Dobbs: 'I want to complete every ball I throw'

He'll be AMAZING this year. In 13 games before we head to the playoffs, he'll put up:

3500 yards passing
67.5% completion percentage
32 passing TDs
4 INTs
650 yards rushing
10 rushing TDs

13-0 record. SEC champs.

Heisman Trophy winner.
Ill be a little disappointed if he doesn't throw 70%

I would take 65% and hit a few deep passes over 25-30 yards per game..along with the occasional 60+ yard reception and TD pass. Similar to the one he hit Malone with last year. I have seen Dormady hit more deep passes in the O&W game and limited passes he has had in 1 season than Josh has hit in 3+ years. Between Worley and Dobb's we haven't seen many deep pass completions since Bray left.

Dormady has not hit more deep passes than Dobbs. He had two the whole year. Dormady hasn't thrown a pass as nice as Dobbs did against UK, UGA, or USC. Definitely not any against a real defense. You would rather make up stuff than give Dobbs any credit. I don't think you have ever said anything positive about him.

Your right it's kind of a duh moment to a duh question.

What the question and answer communicates to me is the kid is focused on what is being said to or asked of him and he responds accordingly. No fool is young Dobbs IMO.

Thinking the contenders are McCaffery and Fournett.

In fairness and I HATE to this day what happened to Majors & Manning regarding the Heisman, Bama had their very first winner just a few years ago. So they may not need to be in your list is what I am suggesting. There is an overall and general bias against the SEC in particular and some of our member schools when it comes to Heisman balloting IMO.

If he puts those numbers up, yes!

Honestly, I think he'll put up numbers like this:

3200 yards
25 TDs
10 INT

600-700 yards rushing
11 TDS

You do know that last season D. Watson was the first QB to throw for over 4K and rush for over 1K EVER and he didn't win the Heisman, right?

Those are Baker Mayfield stats. In the words of another VN poster you are gonna have to "jump higher"!

And if that had been in the SEC he would have a Heisman.

So only an extra 1,000 yds passing in the same number of games?

Has happened many times before. I don't know why you act like it's impossible.

Not impossible.....just very unlikely.

Also, doubt there's very many examples of a QB who's made multiple starts in each of his first three years, including every game as a junior, who throws for an additional 1,000 yards as a senior......especially in a run-centered offense. I'd be thrilled to see it, just don't think it's likely, and, quite honestly, that it's even necessary for this team to reach his goals.

Off the top of my head, Brandon Allen perfectly fits that. VY almost does.

1000 more yards isn't THAT much more, really. It's about an extra 75-80 yards per game. Basically, average 2 more deep ball completions per game. Not saying Dobbs will do it, but it's not like it would be as mind blowing as you seem to think.

I was worried for a moment because I hadn't heard him say this at any other time this pre season. But now that he has said it I am confident that he truly wants to hit all his throws.

I just hope he knows if he completes a pass to someone with a different color jersey then that is not a completion. I've yet to hear him discuss this aspect.

There is NO way you are over 23 years old.

Never said mind-blowing nor did I say impossible. I said it's not very likely. Some people have thrown around some "stretch" numbers around here this offseason. I've seen posters say that Croom is gonna have 50 catches for 500-600 yards, that we're gonna average 50ppg, that we're gonna have two 1,000 WRs, etc. And of course, that Dobbs is now gonna increase passing yards by 1,000 year on year. Perhaps he does....perhaps we hit all those numbers....just saying they're stretch to say the least and not likely to happen. Thankfully, none of that has to happen for team 120 to hit its goal of an SEC title.

I get what you mean. I don't see our guys making the enormous statistical leap that many are predicting either. Like you said, we don't have to see that for this team to be successful this season. Modest improvement and holding on in here th pressure situations would be enough.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see Dobbs take a hefty statistical leap this year. I'm not predicting he will because I'm still in "prove it to me" mode (and he has t yet proven he can be consistent), but I think he'll be put in the best position we've seen to date to have passing success in terms of OL, WR play, and (perhaps most importantly) experience in all three phases of the passing game.

IMO, passing yards are the stat that can mask a mediocre season. They're easier to come by. The TD/INT category is the hardest to improve and it shows how the player actually performed. It's kinda like when running backs get over 1000+ yards but only have 3 TDs all year in the NFL, they put some nice stats up but they weren't that effective, in a sense.

D4H, I've gotta give it to ya man. You're consistent. I'm just going to toss the anti-depressants and follow your posts from here on out. 32 & 4 ... wow!

This, from this morning: "We're playing 15 games and I have Dobbs throwing for 4,000 yards." D4H

If consistent, it appears d4h predicts Dobbs will avg 500 passing yards in his final 2 college career games.

Watson threw for approx 405 in last year's NC game (and Coker for 335). Watson threw for 187 in the OU game (and Mayfield for about 311).

These are challenging, high-pressure predictions on this senior.

Am I missing something?

Edit: yes, I definitely was missing something ! That's 250 in each, which is very doable.
