Dingdingding..we have a winner. Why is this so hard to understand?

"Higgins will probably be on the warpath"..... WHY!? What did WE do to make him be on some warpath to recruit other guys away from us? He's the one that trolled us, not the other way around... Hopefully Butch and Co concentrates their efforts moving forward on all instate recruits left on our board.

While I don't think Butch is on any kind if hot seat nor should be for goodness sake- he is having a hard time shaking this perception of losing games we should have won (OK and FL). We were a national joke after those two losses. While I give him a ton of credit for turning it around in the Ga game, it obviously hasn't been forgotten. If we underachieve this year with THIS roster.... Well I don't want to know what will be the national perception then. If were having a hard time selling recruits now how the hell are we gonna sell the vision then? I would gladly take a loss in the SEC championship than no appearance at all- although yes winning it makes all the difference. But we can't afford any disappointments- hope team 120 can handle the pressure.

I suppose its possible, but doesn't seem likely.

Would be curious to hear why you don't think it likely. I have no idea either way. Admittedly, i might be making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Whatever the case, it seems as likely as unlikely, especially given the way that HJ and friends have gone about their business. Even in my most punkish of days as a young guy (and yes I was a lil' punk)I never mocked. I especially didn't gang up to mock others, the losing team, the jilted, etc. Instead I watched others who did, and more often than not those people who did had reason, their feelings were hurt. They also recruited others to join their cause. Kind of like the saying, misery loves company.

The hole win the east benchmark is stupid

We could lose the east by going 11-1 or we could win it by going 9-3

Surely to goodness no one here would choose 9-3?
I usually think you're annoying but this is a good post.

Losing the East at 11-1 would mean we beat Bama and either Florida or Georgia (or both if one of the other four teams pulls something out of their ass and goes undefeated in the SEC.)

Going 9-3 and winning the East would be disappointing to me comparatively speaking. A lot of people complained about Fulmer for doing the same thing.

Simple yes or no question.

Should Butch be on the hot seat if he doesn't win the East this year?

As bad as it pains me to say because I'm not a person to jump the gun.... Yes. Everyone else is weaker than they will be in the future and we are stacked. No excuses

So don't discuss recruiting till the season is over and it's NSD? Nah, that doesn't sound enjoyable at all.

Just like you to take what you want out of something instead staying on subject. The subject isn't rather or not we should discuss recruiting, its the sky is falling over one recruit. Really shallow come back. I seen you better than that. :)

I didn't feel the sky is falling because we lost Tee. I've been concerned since we took so many on OCD. IMO, too many marginal players too soon. Losing instate talent doesn't surprise me, if you've followed my opinions, I was one expecting it to come to a head at some point on that front.

Yes. Unless there's someone in the east that goes 12-0 and we go 11-1

Edit: 10-2 would be ok as long as we win the bowl game

Well, let's say we are 11-1 heading into ATL. Then we lose.

Does Butch get credit for making it there, or does he get roasted for choking away a playoff berth? I'm going with the latter.

I think overall the media wouldn't be hard on him. That's a NY6 bowl too.

The plaintiff's attorneys must have initially wanted $100 million or something for UT to drag it out and let the media have a field day.
