Been trying, like most of us, to wrap my head around these recent developments. So here is a thought, or conspiracy, that some may like to consider.
What are the chances that Butch and company backed out on HJ? I mean, it could be that CBJ and staff got the impression that HJ doesn't possess the intangibles they expect. Couple that with lingering questions regarding his physical talents and whether he fits the system and maybe, just maybe, they asked him to take a step back from his commitment.
Might help to explain the vendetta HJ appears to have. Couple that with an all too willing participant like AR, and it starts to make a little bit more sense.
Any takers?
Well, let's say we are 11-1 heading into ATL. Then we lose.
Does Butch get credit for making it there, or does he get roasted for choking away a playoff berth? I'm going with the latter.
I can't believe the freakout over one player. Sure it would have been awesome to have Tee represent his home state school but Tee does not make Tennessee. The Vols will be fine without him. There are other high quality receivers out there and Butch will land a few. One player does not make a team. We'll be fine. I'll bet Tee, if he does end up signing with Clem's son will always wonder "what if?".
He'll never be able to come home and be celebrated like he would Ave if he was a Vol. Look at the players that didn't end up staying home. They're not nearly the heros that the ones that did. Look at Leroy Thompson, Randall Cobb. While highly respected they never had that hometown hero status. His loss IMO.
Yea, I don't get the melt down over one player either and its July. Its like its got to be all good news or we are headed to hell in a hand basket when someone in State doesn't stay home. Every once in a while it happens. Look at he players we steal out of GA and other states.

It's possible. I just didn't see the logic in taking Johnson in the first place. This offense needs a dual-threat guy, IMO. It's also weird to me that our top 2 QBs for 2018 are Trevor Lawrence and Emory Jones. The top DT and top pro-style QBs for that class. You can't tell me that both would be equally successful in this system.
Home grown that got away.
Anyone recognize the name?
If so the coaches get a pass for letting this one get out of state
@KNIGHTS_BASEBTN: Congrats to 2018 RHP @carter_sells on his commitment to @ArkRazorbacks @PerfectGameUSA #reptheK

There is basically this constant debate on here about the star system. All these wonderful stats people post to support why stars matter only to be followed up by somebody else's stats that prove stars don't matter. Here's the thing, we know some 3-star and 4-star players become good-to-great players. Is it dumb luck finding which low-rated recruits have the best chance of panning out? All 3-stars are not created equal. I think our staff, (whether it is CBJ\Bob\other people behind the scenes) has shown the ability to identify lower-rated guys that have a higher probability of turning into good-to-great players. That helps. Win lots of games. Get lots of media hype all season. I am certainly not going to dull my enjoyment of the here and now (which is our best team in a LONG time) because of insecurities about what MIGHT happen in the future IF we don't recruit better in 7 months. But if that's your cup of tea, ruin your present enjoyment.
I suppose its possible, but doesn't seem likely.
Being the clear #1 player probably has a lot to do with it. Its not just some recruit.
We use to lose them all on a regular bases until CBJ came alone. Not saying it doesn't hurt but now everything is doom and gloom? Isn't it possible that CBJ gets some awesome players to flip if we have the season we think we will have? Why don't we wait until the season is over and signing day and see how things shake out? Every year the recruiting class never ends up the way it begins and usually ends up a strong class.
