Vols and Jancek part ways! (official)

Did UT Treat Jancek Unfairly?

I too am very surprised by this, and I am among those who think Jancek did a good job. You can't blame the blown games early in the season on the defense. The offense did NOTHING--ZERO--in the second half of the OU game and suxed in the florida game as well. Yes, I agree that not blitzing in a crucial passing situation is STUPID and I'll never understand why coaches do the opposite and rush three as any half competent QB will complete passes if he can stand comfortably in the pocket. But my point is: You have to score points in the second half: You are not going to beat OU and top SEC teams with the offense we had early in the season. You aren't going to pitch shutouts--this is college football; teams score, and you have to score too. In any case, something about this had to have been personal, or maybe money--but the fact that Jancek doesn't have another job lined up yet, apparently, is telling. He was a very solid coach who impressed me when talking about his unit--and if Jones sacked him because of the blown games than I'm extremely disappointed in Jones. The head guy COULD f--k this up with a poor hire. Let's hope he does the opposite and brings in somebody stout. But it's a risky move.

Best case scenario in my opinion: CBJ 1) doesn't think Tennessee can win championships under Jancek's leadership and 2) knows he can land Shoop. My biggest criticism of CBJ during the first couple years was my belief that he is loyal to a fault.

For some reason I envision Jancek with an empty Jack Daniels bottle on the floor & and a fresh bottle of Vodka popped sitting in his underwear with Dorito dust on his face and chest wearing the twitter account out on his Commodore 64. Poor feller....:toast:

Yeah, I just don't see that one at all. Got some young thing on the side that he's bringing around the facilities? The very high profile faculties? Where his son is all the time? Makes zero sense. I'm calling BS.

Exactly.

We're 36 in the country in total defense and 52 in total offense so it makes perfect sense to me.

Wow! Both coordinators from the Best Coaching Staff in America are now gone.

Is the Apocalypse upon us?

Can Jones round up another women's swim coach or similar for DC before NSD?

Yeah I don't either and I agree it does look like his official UT Twitter.

I do not think there is an official UT twitter for coaches. I think each coach just has the same format, but it is their own individual account. UT may have set it up but they monitor it.

Often times you'll see coaches keep the same Twitter account from school to school, like Coach Jones did moving from Cinci to Tennessee, Franklin from Vandy to Penn State...

Don't think it's a "university" account, so they probably don't have any control over it.

I do not think UT can just shut it down.

Time will tell. I am surprised any DC would leave a school like UT with the young talent they have on D coming back next year.

After all this was the best coaching staff in America, right?

No...Jancek proved to be way too passive for the SEC and his situational defense calling was hideous. I personally see this as growth for Butch. He just got rid of a guy who has been with him for years in order to strengthen the program. And no I don't believe it was Jancek's decision to leave because he's on twitter right now posting like a 12 year old girl
