You can't tell me it wasn't predictable!!
a mark of a good movie is not whether or not you can predict the ending or a big twist. The unexpected choice is not necessarily the best choice for storytelling purposes, especially one that spans over multiple generations.
And for the record, no i didn't think it was predictable. I thought it was pretty awesome. Well worth the wait for me.
You seeing a half empty glass in this scenario is hardly surprising though.

Pretty much all of the Star Wars movies are predictable. There is one (arguably two) plot twists in the entire series. A New Hope was predictable AF and probably the second best Star Wars film.
I haven't seen TFA yet, but from what I've heard it's somewhat predictable, but an enjoyable ride that sets the tone for the next two movies to come.
So I watched the first two SW movies last night, bought the whole series on Vudu, and YAWN!! Not my cup of tea, but my boys wanted to see them, and liked them. After half heartedly watching the first two, I have no clue what's going on.

I'm of the opinion that if you don't see the original three (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) during your childhood, it just doesn't resonate as much.
And "the first three" aren't NEARLY as good. Although Return of the Sith wasn't bad, episodes 1-3 go from below average (being kind) to decent to..."meh ok, that wasn't half bad but...my God, Hayden Christianson is a pansy."
