Azzanni Out, Martin In?

It was not the right time for tee or his family. He was very torn about that decision. It was the hardest decision he had to make, but his family comes first and the timing was off. He wants to be back in Knoxville. It kills me to see so many hate on a man for being an upright person, and a man that is a VFL through and through.

You might have just given me a better perspective. Thanks.

A little bit of insider is worth a ton of speculation based on news bites.

I never got the feel that the offer back in 2012 was anything more than a courtesy offer to please the fan base. Butch was new and unknown to the majority of the fans. There were a lot of fans wanting Butch to bring Tee home. Butch already knew who he wanted, but to satisfy the base, he asked Tee to make a high profile visit. Butch makes an offer. Tee turns it down. The base is satisfied, and Tee gets a raise. Butch then hires Azzanno, which is who he had always planned to hire. Everyone is happy.

I would give Al Wilson, the offensive line and the two Travis's more credit than Tee. He was one more bad drive away at Georgia from being bench but that is when the light came on.

A bad drive from being benched? Who exactly was going to replace him?

I'd like for us to hire Tee as the quarterback coach/co-reciever coach and keep Azzanni as recruiting coordinator/co reciever coach. Both could be potental OC in waiting. I feel they could make a good team. And I doubt Payton would just jump into the quarterback coaching job right after he retires from the NFL. I'm sure he'll take a couple years off before me makes the transition.

Sean Payton is a great qb coach, but I doubt he would retire from being a NFL Head Coach to coach qbs at UT.

And it was the same here when Chaney was calling the plays, so what point are you trying to make?

If we still had Chaney our receivers literally would be eating peanuts off of DB's and we'd be 6-0.

Loved ALL those game winning drives under him. :pinch:

Anyone think that Jim Chaney would have a field day with the offensive talent on this team? No offense to Mike Debord, but Jim Chaney, while he was here, had a dynamite offense.

Running game sucked...Bray was/is a gifted thrower but when the game counted? Goal line end of game situations? Chaney found a way to not get it done.

You've been on here long enough to understand the mentality of some of our "so called fans". Hate is a way of life when you can hide behind a keyboard. 90% of the people on here would not recognize Tee if they saw him on the street. :salute::salute::salute:

So you're yelling this post from a megaphone?

I actually remember the story being told by Cut himself about how he called down to the sidelines and basically told Tee to remove his head from his rear or he was gonna be gettin some good quality pine time! (During the Georgia game)

A lot of fans really just dont like Tee. Hard to believe he was the starting QB and if it werent for him we wouldnt have a national title since the 50s..

I don't buy him being the reason we won the NC. He was only an average QB. He had a lot of good talent around him and good team chemistry. I give Jamal Lewis more credit for it than Tee.

If Tee is the most qualified candidate fitting the skills and salary requirements, absolutely. The acrimony (by some) towards him is childish.

Tee Martin needs to take a long walk off a short pier. He completely disrespected Tennessee when he showed up in Knoxville sporting his USC hooded sweatshirt (In the Airport), seemed interested in the job, turned it down, and then played along with Lane Kiffin's BS by posting his Tennessee job turn down on twitter.

At that point, his street sign should have been taken down and replaced with a true VFL such as Al Wilson or Inky Johnson. Tee Martin is a Trojan, not a VFL IMO. Oh... And his comment about Jalen Hurd was immature, disrespectful, and just plain wrong.

I have about as much regard now for Tee Martin as I do Arian Foster. Due to all the actions listed above, I feel he has burned a lot of bridges here. If we were to get a chance at a VFL as a coach, I would prefer it is one that understands the concept of respect.

talent on this team? Did you know that 11 of the 12 offensive players on the 2012 team signed NFL contracts? That 2012 averaged 36 points per game and 470 yards per game..this year, with less NFL talent, we average 37 points and 435 yards per game..but yeah Chaney is great and Debord sucks

Obviously debord wasn't the reason why TN lost double digit leads in the Oklahoma, Florida, and Arkansas game.

sure wasn't we couldn't stop 3rd and 4th down because of lack of depth on defense..was it Chaney's fault that we lost to UK and Vandy and went 5-7?
