Azzanni Out, Martin In?

Very true. I still remember the pass that seemed to take a full minute to get to the reliever I. The end zone so much air under it. That year there was a lot of luck involved. Plus the South Carolina game of what 37/39 passing

This. I know the dude's a bit of lightening rod, but as long as his show cause is up, I'm all for it. Thig and Martinez were on staff at Auburn w/ him and he apparently liked it in Knoxville. Apparently many VFL like him, most notably the Berry family. But most importantly, I think he's a good coach. Every position he coached at UT excelled. 2 1,000 yard rushers in '04 and Meachem's breakout year in '06 had a lot to do with him IMO.

I guess when you lead a team to a national championship yet get NO credit for it bc of the QB that played before you (who didn't beat fl or win the championship) it makes you a little salty. JMO. He's still wrong, but I'm just saying that the hate talk needs to stop. He was our QB on our best team in the last 40 or so years. Let him do his thing, there are other jobs in the country that are pretty nice. Just saying.

Azzani absolutely has to go, but there's little to no chance that Tee will be his replacement IMO.

I agree but I would say there is little to no chance that Azzani gets let go. As a matter of fact, I have a hard time believing that Butch Jones makes any staff changes at all. He is loyal to a fault.

Keeping Azzani on staff would definitely be a "fault" IMHO.

Anyone think that Jim Chaney would have a field day with the offensive talent on this team? No offense to Mike Debord, but Jim Chaney, while he was here, had a dynamite offense.

It was not the right time for tee or his family. He was very torn about that decision. It was the hardest decision he had to make, but his family comes first and the timing was off. He wants to be back in Knoxville. It kills me to see so many hate on a man for being an upright person, and a man that is a VFL through and through.

We do need a QB coach though

Tee is a wide receivers coach. And sour grapes aside. He brings the ability to recruit just as well as Azzanni and can coach a lot better. Plus it's always good to get guys back to their alma mater. Tee was being offered twice what UT was offering at the time for the same position. Did he handle it the best way? No. But this nonsense of having bitter feelings for life is ridiculous. The time wasn't right. Now it is. I personally don't want to see 5 star talent waste away at WR.

He does have a street named after him...

Unless the new staff keeps him, it looks like Tee will be looking for work soon. If any coach needs to be replaced, I think it's Azzanni. I've heard multiple in the know folks say that the WRs aren't getting open or finishing their routes.

Tee's son goes to Catholic, and is a 2017 USC commit right now.

Have they been to Maury Povich for confirmation?

I'd like for us to hire Tee as the quarterback coach/co-reciever coach and keep Azzanni as recruiting coordinator/co reciever coach. Both could be potental OC in waiting. I feel they could make a good team. And I doubt Payton would just jump into the quarterback coaching job right after he retires from the NFL. I'm sure he'll take a couple years off before me makes the transition.

You've been on here long enough to understand the mentality of some of our "so called fans". Hate is a way of life when you can hide behind a keyboard. 90% of the people on here would not recognize Tee if they saw him on the street. :salute::salute::salute:

Biggest struggle with Tee is the family angle.
His family absolutely loves SoCal...I wouldn't be surprised to see his son flip to UCLA from USC.
I doubt his wife will want to stay at home in the Knoxville winter either while Tee is out on the road recruiting.

That said though - would I want him as a position coach here at UT? YESSSIR !!!

Imagine what he could teach Dobbs, Dormady, and all the receivers!!!

Why not bring Tee in, oust Debo, move coach Z to OC, and have Tee take over on WR or QB? (I believe he coaches both, yeah?)

That gives us our national championship qb back, and another helluva recruiter.

So people like me that are mad about him disrespecting our university, hate things about the university by nature?
That's some new logic there my friend:thumbsup:

Tee Martin needs to take a long walk off a short pier. He completely disrespected Tennessee when he showed up in Knoxville sporting his USC hooded sweatshirt (In the Airport), seemed interested in the job, turned it down, and then played along with Lane Kiffin's BS by posting his Tennessee job turn down on twitter.

At that point, his street sign should have been taken down and replaced with a true VFL such as Al Wilson or Inky Johnson. Tee Martin is a Trojan, not a VFL IMO. Oh... And his comment about Jalen Hurd was immature, disrespectful, and just plain wrong.

Yep
