Von Pearson Update

To all the people talking about Von being stupid to sue her, whether because she doesn't have deep pockets it because he doesn't have the money to pay a lawyer or whatever else reason:

The poster a few pages back said he was thinking about "pressing charges," not suing her. Now, who knows how accurate that is, but if he "presses charges," he basically just tells the cops/DA that he wants them to go after her and he will cooperate with them. He wouldn't be going after her "pockets" in that case--just trying to get her in criminal trouble. Just clarifying.

Still a dumb thing t do, whether it's pressing charges or suing her. If this ends up favorably to VP, he needs to (and he will) let it go and never look back. No way he presses charges.

If it's apparent that she made something up... then at a minimum her name needs to be published. Not so if she still claims she was assaulted or whatever she's claiming that VP did to her and she simply wants to drop the matter.

I get the comparison of the similarities and styles of Pearson and Patterson. But I agree with Tuckervol on Patterson's NFL standing.

Patterson's numbers not only dropped from year 1 to year 2. They also dropped through the year. This is a make or break year for him. Players drafted in the first round are expected to be more consistent and to show development. He's only excelled on special teams. He went multiple games without a catch. I hope he has a great year. If he doesn't, he won't be suiting up for the Vikings next year. He has not been a bust in the strictest sense, but he has nowhere near lived up to what was expected of him.

You should research the term "sophomore slump." It's not uncommon in any sport for an outstanding rookie to have a slow second season. People start to game plan around you and put tougher defenders on you. Not to mention that he is likely to fall when climbing down from cloud 9 :)

I used to teach Michael Jordan how to shoot then he came to me about people blocking his shots. So I was all like hey man just fade away like this.

A dumb thing to punish someone who potentially tried to ruin his name (which is done already, regardless of innocence or guilt), his ability to do something he loves, and his career... so essentially his entire life?

A justice system with integrity would go after her on their own if it was found she lied to police and attempted to get someone charged with a felony, the fact you have to "choose" to waste your time and money to punish someone for accusing you falsely is part of how screwed up our system is, along with many of the things that happens in cases like these anyway.

It's not just the sophomore slump issue, but the fact that the coaches aren't really actively trying to get the ball in his hands outside of special teams.

People can say all they want he may not be smart enough to learn offenses or to grasp certain plays/reads/etc. but if that's the issue then simplify it for him. Put him at RB and run a pitch or outside runs. Put him at slot or wing and run end arounds. Tell him the specific route he's running on a play even if you must.

It's not common in the NFL naturally, but I've seen it a ton in High School and even college. People seem to forget how rare it is for people to be both intelligent (or even average intelligence) and the level of athletic freak that CP is at the same time.

Because this thread has often gotten pretty stupid... I have missed many important FACTS. However, there needs to be repercussions when women falsely accuse men of rape. I do not know if it applies in this specific case however real victims as well as the falsely accused are harmed by false accusers.

Yep. This has a slander case smell to it.

Just because charges aren't brought doesn't necessarily mean the alleged victim made a false accusation though.

Don't be so naïve. It turns into a he said she said swearing match with both of them coming out losing. There's way too much gray area and it's not as though she is going to admit she did anything wrong. It's not Perry Mason where she gets on the witness stand and admits she was lying.

Yep, I would never recommend taking your chances unless, the case is dropped due to false accusation admission.

As of a post 3 hours ago, a reputable/connected poster on the Vols 247 board says that there's "good news coming soon" in regards to Von.

With the current attitudes towards sexual assault that are becoming prevalent as of late, no DA in the country would have any desire to pursue that case without absolute, concrete proof that the girl conspired to falsely accuse Von of rape. So unless he somehow has proof that that occurred, civil court is really his only option.
