Idea! Let's bite each other's heads off!!! That will get VP back on the field....
I had to go back about a dozen pages just to figure out the actual update. Us VFL's get excited don't we
Having read through the posts I'd like to touch on a couple things (yeah I know).
If VP qualifies for a RS it won't matter. The guy is a near mirror image of cordarelle Patterson. He is waaaay to quick and elusive not to play at the next level. So he see's CP go to the nfl with a splash, and being a juco initially... the guy is seeing the dollar signs and knows what his age means.
Now for the issue at hand. With so many sources saying there is a hearing scheduled. I'm leaning towards it being true. It doesn't necessarily mean he is back though. Two possible options; he is coming back and we win the championship (national), and we go on to win the super bowl the same year, orrrr they have concluded the investigations (with the undesired conclusion) and want the schools hearing to precede state hearings to satisfy the Feds. I'm not exactly sure that would even happen but I guess it's possible. Either way it seems an answer is on the horizon.
In closing, I would like to go back to my experiences scrolling through the last 10-15 pages. I SORELY missed the "like" button while laughing my butt off at some of the crazy crap said in this post.
Just an opinion, but if Von Pearson is using CP as a role model for moving to the NFL, then he must be feeling great about his NFL prospects. These two could not be more different in styles. Patterson is all flash, no substance. Pearson has much less flash and much more substance.
There is a reason why Patterson is barely hanging on the Vikings roster. I will be interested to see if he makes the roster after training camp.

I've heard that Von will be back and may press charges against his accuser
My source is someone I know who has connections into the athletic department who is typically accurate on these things (I know this isn't worth much credibility, but hey its better than what we have been hearing in this forum)

It would really, really, REALLY not be a good idea for Von to try to have this adjudicated in criminal court. That's opening up a can of worms someone in his position needs to avoid at all costs.
He could take her to civil court on the side, perhaps, if he's really set on clearing his name.

I don't think Butch would tell anyone in media even if he knew the re-instatement was imminent.
I bet Von just happens to be at the first practice of fall camp, Butch quickly mentions that he's reinstated during his press conference, and his reinstatement gets buried under all the news that will be reported that day.
I think the AD wants his return to come with as little fanfare and publicity as possible.

I think you're right.
They'll either bury it late on Friday afternoon (the classic burial time) or wait like you said until there's an avalanche of camp opening news.
