Von Pearson Update

Actually... It's already been stated by a poster who is close to the team that no, he has no intention of taking her to court, and that he wants to get on with his life.

That's a good thing. The girl probably doesn't have deep pockets so suing her even if he has a likelihood of success would do nothing more than distract him from playing well (and improving his draft stock) and stir things up.

Just an opinion, but if Von Pearson is using CP as a role model for moving to the NFL, then he must be feeling great about his NFL prospects. These two could not be more different in styles. Patterson is all flash, no substance. Pearson has much less flash and much more substance.

There is a reason why Patterson is barely hanging on the Vikings roster. I will be interested to see if he makes the roster after training camp.

Soooo I'm assuming you don't know what the record for longest play is. I'm also assuming you don't watch NFL often.

Cordarelle Patterson:
Pro bowl 2013
First team all pro 2013
Special teams play of the week (October)
Special teams player of the month (September)
Offensive rookie of the month (December)
Oh and did I mention the longest play in NFL history?

He isn't going anywhere. When it comes to comparison with Pearson; both juco transfers, both speedy guys that make others miss, and they both score touchdowns they shouldn't have been able to pull off.

I don't think Butch would tell anyone in media even if he knew the re-instatement was imminent.

that is true. More often than not if he says something, assume something different. He is the best coach I have ever seen at mis-leading everyone, including us.

The more that I learn about Butch the more and more he reminds me of Coach Majors when he was rebuilding UT.

I get the comparison of the similarities and styles of Pearson and Patterson. But I agree with Tuckervol on Patterson's NFL standing.

Patterson's numbers not only dropped from year 1 to year 2. They also dropped through the year. This is a make or break year for him. Players drafted in the first round are expected to be more consistent and to show development. He's only excelled on special teams. He went multiple games without a catch. I hope he has a great year. If he doesn't, he won't be suiting up for the Vikings next year. He has not been a bust in the strictest sense, but he has nowhere near lived up to what was expected of him.

You mean his production dropped with a rookie qb and the loss of their running game? Weird.

I know it was weird. Considering Bridgewater improved the passing game. All the receiving yards went up in the second half of the year, yet Patterson's went down. Also, the run game was mediocre all year. Didn't get worse and didn't affect Patterson's lack of results or playing time.

He wasn't thrown to much. I watched several games where they only went to him a couple of times. I don't think he and the coach were getting along. Wish they would ship him to the titans or dolphins!

There is no way they can bury his return, regardless of the other news of the day. The practice facility could be up in flames and Neyland split down the middle by a freak earthquake, and they will still report that Von was in a practice uniform with the rest of the team. No way he quietly comes back. JMO

I didn't say they could successfully do it, and of course it will be reported.

By "bury the story" I meant they might try the normal methods to divert at least a certain amount of the attention away from it. It's one thing to release info when it would be the only thing going on...it's another to do it when A) it can get lost in the quieter weekend cycle or B) when there are 15 other stories to take attention away.

I have a friend who works for the Star Tribune and covers the Vikes..He says Cordarrelle has a difficult time committing to film study or playbook study..Unfortunately the majority of folks associated with the team feel like Cordarrelle thinks his athletic ability ( He is a FREAK in that regard) is enough..The fear is he'll never realize his full potential unless he decides to immerse himself in the playbook and commit to putting in the extra work it takes to perfect the WR position, especially focusing on precise route running and being where he's supposed to be on timing routes..

I personally love watching him play and have always thought he is one the most athletic players to come through UT in a long time and hope he has a long career ending in the HOF..I guess only time will tell..IMHO this season and possibly the next will give a huge indication of which direction his career will be headed..But no matter what the future holds for him, I will always be a Patterson fan and consider him a VFL....

Here is a portion of a USA Today interview with HC Mike Zimmer concerning Patterson with a link to the entire interview as well...

Q: Rick trusts you and your staff a lot to take those raw athletes and mold them into football players. What needs to happen for Cordarrelle Patterson to do that?

A: Cordarrelle is on a good track right now, OK? Now, can he sustain? Can he continue to sustain what he's doing? Because like today, I thought he had a good day. In OTAs, I thought he improved. He'll have really good days, and then he'll have some not-so-good days. Really, I think what he needs to do is just the consistency every single day and the consistency in studying, the consistency in getting extra help that he needs if he needs it, running the routes the same all the time and understanding that there's a lot of great athletes that play professional sports, and there's a lot of great athletes that don't make it in professional sports because they don't have the other intangibles. To me, the biggest thing with him is that: Does he want to be 'Flash' or does he want to be a great receiver? I'm not trying to dog him or anything, but that's really what it is.

Q&A: Vikings' Mike Zimmer says Adrian Peterson will get 'as much as he can take'

So, the word was Von was supposed to hear something today. If he does, do we hear it as well or do we hear it when fall camp starts?

To all the people talking about Von being stupid to sue her, whether because she doesn't have deep pockets it because he doesn't have the money to pay a lawyer or whatever else reason:

The poster a few pages back said he was thinking about "pressing charges," not suing her. Now, who knows how accurate that is, but if he "presses charges," he basically just tells the cops/DA that he wants them to go after her and he will cooperate with them. He wouldn't be going after her "pockets" in that case--just trying to get her in criminal trouble. Just clarifying.

If he has the proof of her trying to ruin him without a law being broken, I'd want him to pursue the false report charge too. Its a felony and should be pursued. If he can't prove it, just drop it. He needs tangible evidence though and not just a gut feeling

Because this thread has often gotten pretty stupid... I have missed many important FACTS. However, there needs to be repercussions when women falsely accuse men of rape. I do not know if it applies in this specific case however real victims as well as the falsely accused are harmed by false accusers.
