Well, what is the film? When will it be released? Is it a 30 for 30 type of thing?

The cruel irony of the disease to which Coach Smith fell prey is that it attacked his memory, which was one of his most extraordinary abilities. There's been no shortage of stories the past 24-hours about his amazing ability to remember event and people. Even if they only had a brief encounter. Brad Daugherty told of one of his friends that spoke to Coach Smith at Daugherty's wedding in 1990. The two met for less than a minute. The guy called Daugherty about six years later saying that he had just been approached by Coach Smith in an airport, and that he had remembered his name, his children and wife's name, his line of work, etc.

As impressive as he was in the realm of sports, it was secondary to his impact off the court.

The film will be on Showtime in March, although that might move up with his passing. We want to call it "Dean Smith," but that sort of thing isn't up to us to a certain extent.

If anyone is interested, I'll keep you guys posted.

Please do.

If I understand the definition of "blueshirt", they go on scholarship the first day. it just counts toward next year. So they show up (i am a little fuzzy on the specific timing) but it is in the fall and they are on scholarship at that point.
A grayshirt is different in they show up and pay their own way and have to earn their way onto the team.
This is the way I understand it, anyway.

Could he not have been referring to last year's blue shirts?

To further my question, why wouldn't we have announced Perry and Bruce, but announced Lovingood, Oliver, and Stewart? Doesn't add up. I believe Oliver, Lovingood, and Stewart are signed

Why did we announce the 'Preferred" walk-ons, but not announce Perry and Bruce? Unsure, but I don't believe at the time they were announced, they were announced as walk-ons. Confusing

Given the strong tendency toward attrition, I think arguments regarding whether somebody on a gray or blue or any other shirt color will get a scholarship are somewhat moot. Once the determination is made that a guy will not make it, I seriously doubt a scholarship is happening regardless of shirt color. They are letting/encouraging 4 stars to walk...

They signed a LOI as a walk on

Which teams hurt Clemson's recruiting the most via 247.

3. Tennessee

The Vols are back on the recruiting trail and managed to land Clemson legacy Shy Tuttle at defensive tackle. They also were problematic with other Tigers targets like Stephen Griffin, Quart'e Sapp, Kyle Phillips, Venzell Boulware and Preston Williams. The states of North Carolina and Georgia will be battlegrounds for these two programs moving forward, much like the 1990s and early part of the 2000s.

So you think they lied to him?

I think we don't have all the information.

If I had to guess, it's "you'll get a scholarship (if you perform)" and they can use that very vague expectation to never give him a scholarship until he transfers.

It's no risk for Tennessee - if they develop him, they can give him a scholarship. If he doesn't, they will say "it's not working here but we'll help you find another program."

You would think someone in the media could ask Butch directly to describe what a BS is and how it works in detail.

Two things:

First, it's the Knoxville media, so if you want anything more than "Talk about how you feel about this upcoming game" then you're digging in the wrong mine.

Second, if I'm Butch, I don't answer it. I pass it off to 'compliance' and allow them to bury the question. No reason to call attention to the whole blueshirt process.

1st time they don't honor that BS, as mentioned earlier IMO recruits won't take them going forward. Walk ons know they have the opportunity to get a scholarship at some point. BSs have been quoted as saying they have been told they WILL go on scholarship at a given time. Very different imo.

Okay.

Here is my way to early predictions:

BG - W
Oklahoma - W
West Carolina - W
@ Florida - W
Arkansas - L (let down after emotional win)
Georgia - W (bounce back, huge W)
@ Bama - L
@ Kentucky - W
South Carolina - W
North Texas - W
@ Mizzou - L (tough time of year to go to Cola)
Vandy - W

9-3

I like this. It makes more sense given how emotional that UF win would be if we get it. Ark the next week will be tough. UGA comes to Knoxville and is another huge rival so I give us a good shot in that game. With this 9-3 record, and with UGA having to play both BAMA and BARN next season, I do think this would get us to ATL.

I didn't even know TN has a Jr day upcoming. I don't see a thread on it or this kid.

StacyPriest: RT @CoachSkelton06: Kurt Taylor (2017) RB been invited to Tennessee Jr Day Feb 21st.

The other thing to consider is will we really even need to use the blueshirt thing anymore going forward. Butch used it to flip the roster as fast as possible...mission accomplished. Starting with the 2016 class, we won't have the need to sign these huge classes and add blueshirts to flip the roster. Things should start looking a lot more normal on signing days from this point forward, minus a greyshirt here and there.

Last year's was heavily hyped...maybe it's geared more towards the recruits now because public perception is so amped recruiting wise.

KM is relentless.

He worked recruiting like a coach. Case and point was Wednesday morning when he was up at 3:30 Pacific time talking to Venzell Boulware. Ohio State was coming hard and as Boulware was getting ready to make a decision, McKenzie was making sure he had Tennessee firmly on his mind.

"I really didn't go to sleep but about two hours," McKenzie said. "Part of it was excitement for myself. But I also wanted to make sure I was staying on top of other guys. Knowing Venzell was a Vol made me sleep better those few hours. He was one of the first guys that I helped recruit, and I took pride in making sure it stayed that way."
