lol I'm going to stay away from the FF. Since I'm about 7-8 years older than DeBord they would surely be wishing me dead. Saban's 63 and no one complains about his age. I'd bet that a lot of the people (not all) that are crying about his age are in the 18-25 age range and talk to others their age about how dumb their parents and grandparents are.
Just because he hasn't been directly involved in coaching the past 2-4 years doesn't mean he hasn't kept up with the game.
I'm hoping most of the people on the RF gives DeBord a chance to prove what he can do. I'm sure that most on the FF will not. I don't have a clue about how good he is or what he knows but I'm going to give him a chance. Just guessing I'd say he knows more than most of us on the RF about football (except for Tux). :)

Gruden hasnt coached in years but I bet everyone would be salivating over him.

You may have found that definition, but true nepotism laws prevent the hiring of relatives. You can't really prevent the hiring of friends. We all have relationships with people, and I can't be prevented from hiring someone that I have a prior relationship with. Nepotism can clearly be proven.

Yes, you'll find several sources that include close friends in the definition of nepotism. Traditionally, I think it's reserved for family, but languages change and evolve as those using them change the meanings of words.

Personally, I'd give him a pass with a stern warning, but it's not surprising that some of those old professors wouldn't budge.

That makes two resident English majors. One for the day shift, and one for the night shift. I hated English but ended up going to law school. Now, I just talk my way out of it.

I hope Butch is right. He's confident in his system and his playbook and thinks they cannot be enhanced by an infusion of new ideas and a fresh perspective. It's an underwhelming hire that he knows is universally unpopular and he made it with heightened expectations on the line. Gonna be a lot of headshaking...

Why do you need new ideas when there was nothing broke when te right qb was in there? It's not like he fired Bajakian to make an upgrade. He left and he wants to keep things the same as they were

This roster does not include walk ons that earned scholly's as I can find that info for UF. So I removed those guys for TN. Just guys that were ranked on Rivals.

IMO I could still call the plays at my age, unless I forgot where I put the dang play sheet. :)

When over half your plays are predictable from the alignment, formation and motion you run - you need new ideas. That is why the offense struggled against Mizzou and Vandy even with Dobbs. Maybe DeBord brings the fresh ideas and looks at things differently. You don't have to be young to have new ideas.

Nice work Eric but could you not put that in a bar chart or something? :)

Michigan fans on the college football forum on reddit seem convinced this hire will sink Butch and Tennessee.

Well I wanted to lay it out there like that just in case HG or one of our resident Gators could drive by and tell me if there is anyone on there I shouldn't include. I am pretty sure I was working with the most current roster.

Couple of national guys on arky radio saying it's a bad hire too. He won't be worse than Jake, that's my main reason for optimism. Unless Butch was the problem with playcalling, in which case it doesn't matter who we hire.
