But this past offseason, DeBord brought in Alex Gibbs, an assistant coach for the Atlanta Falcons, to implement a zone-blocking scheme that could open up the running game.
The scheme, which has been used to great success by the Denver Broncos as well as the Falcons, requires the offensive line to block "landmarks" (a certain spot on the defenders jersey) and get a quicker jump off the line.
"I was excited when they told us we were going to change to a zone scheme," Kraus said. "I'm a lighter guy. I'm not as big as some of the past offensive linemen. This scheme really fits me
look, debord will be fine. hes an o-line guy, has a ton of experience, apparantly comes highly recommended by manning, gruden, meyer, etc and maybe, just maybe will help improve the run game and implement some pro formation philosophies. He will be fine, all he has to do is call plays that he thinks will work. Maybe he will be more aggressive(which i would like), maybe he will be better at picking things up during the game and using it to tenn advantage. Possibly better half time adjustments who knows. IMO, he would be night and day better then coach jake. FYI, IMO, If this guy is hired the first time by fulmer theres never a kiffen or dooley era. Give the guy a chance if hes the man, i think itll work out fine. Hes a very experienced old fart on offense and i think that is what this teams needs IMO.
Done. Your son is already on scholarship in my book. I'll make sure we have the top rated 5* holder in the nation. Each time we reach the 30, we will kick a FG regardless of the down.

"As we first reported Sunday evening, Butch Jones is spending today and Tuesday conducting additional interviews for his vacant offensive coordinator position.
Nothing has changed in terms of Mike DeBord being the Vols' frontrunner. DeBord spent the entire weekend on Rocky Top and logged extensive time with players and staff, most notably returning starting quarterback Joshua Dobbs. DeBord also is mulling an NFL offer, which multiple sources told us is with the Atlanta Falcons and could unfold by midweek.
Still, Jones emphasized to VolQuest.com that this is a thorough process. He's got a very tight circle of advisers --- on campus and elsewhere in the coaching ranks and football community --- that he's leaning on for this interview process.
Expect Jones and at least one other member of his UT staff to conduct no less than three interviews in the next 36 hours away from Knoxville. Candidates are expected to fly in to meet Jones.
