What do you fellers want to bet that in the next few days Chris Clark all of a sudden starts to show a renewed interest in Tennessee?

The numbers are definitely getting interesting. Maybe they feel more confident about keeping someone in the class as well. With Bolwes, Orta, and probably Williams on the way out it seems there are a few more spots if we really want this kid

Man what ever happened to Drae? I had high hopes for him.

Very interesting vid. He made it sound like he isn't hearing much from our coaches. Says he committed "right now" and is OVing Bama, OleMiss and Kentucky.

If I am CBJ, his recent visit to Vandy cost him his spot. You hold an offer from UT and they accepted your commitment and you go and visit that dumpster fire in Nashville? Good luck.

I'd be looking to fill that spot with a "best available". Ideally a TE, but would be open to other positions as I think we can get (2) quality TEs in 2016.

Notice none of our guys that are "looking around" are the blue chip or stud players of this class.....

Butch has this.

Cherry & Taylor would be considered "blue chip". Yes, I know a lot of folks turned on Cherry recently but a month ago folks would have said you were crazy by not thinking of him as "blue chip".

Honestly, I think we are great at TE. I understand Oliver is/was most likely going to have an H-back role, but we'll be fine either way.

Taylor's visit to VT has been planned for months though. Or is he taking more that I am unaware of?

I've always thought this was a weird commitment. Kid is athletic but doesn't dominate his competition and doesn't seem physical enough to be a H-back. I've seen about 6 of his games this year and he makes a play or two a game that wows you but then doesn't make the routine plays.

That is the visit I am talking about. IMO it should not matter if it was planned or not. If other recruits are losing their spot upon taking visits, Taylor should be held to the same. I can't imagine the UT staff would feel good at all about a VA kid taking a visit to instate VTech. IF the coaches have a reasonable back up plan to Taylor, IMO they should use it IF he makes that trip. JMO

I think we can snag a potential TE, if we really needed that spot filled...by keeping Jackson. He is a Jason Witten clone, IMHO. A guy who could excel as a DE or TE.

The big question all year has been how will the numbers work out with us still being in on so many to tier recruits. I think we are starting to see how the numbers are going to work out.

Did Taylor ever take that visit? Last I saw, he was planning to be there a few weeks ago but Va Tech mods said he never made it and may try to be back at a later date.

Someone on VQ who is an alumnus of Taylor's school talked to his coach who said he couldn't see a situation in which Taylor was not a Vol.

This was posted in Taylor's thread a couple weeks ago.

“i’m still hearing from other schools, but my loyalty lies with tennessee,” said taylor, who’s ranked by 247sports as the nation’s no. 214 overall prospect and no. 12 weakside defensive end in the 2015 class.

“i’m probably going to still take all five of my official visits. But when it’s time for signing day, my signing will be with tennessee.”

Quote:
“it’s kind of hard to envision me changing my mind,” taylor said. “it’s just the way that i feel about tennessee that would make it hard for me to change my mind. I think the program is a rising program. It’s going to get better over time, and i’m looking forward to making it better.

“i’m just going to see what other schools have and just learn some more stuff while i’m on the road. I don’t think anybody’s going to change my mind, but i’m just going to see.”

Of course if he does not take those trips I'd feel better. He plans on taking OVs, I see him not being any better than other recruits. He wants to "enjoy the process", I'd be looking to fill that spot ASAP. JMO

It's really about what the coaches think though, they didn't have an issue with Dylan Jackson visiting LSU according to Callahan BUT they certainly seemed to have issues with Cecil Cherry visiting Texas. Taylor is irreplaceable in terms of athleticism IMHO; there just aren't many edge rushers with wideout speed.

Are we 100% sure the UT coaches were fine with Jackson visiting LSU? They do seem to be pushing for several other DEs. Maybe it's just a case where Jackson still shows as a commitment because he like Cherry still showing as a Vol commit has not made anything public yet de-commit wise.

Well we're still recruiting Jackson whereas we don't seem to be pushing for Cherry.
