I'm talking about kyle Oliver the te.Really? This guy has all the physical attributes you look for in a nasty DE. He just needs to be patient. He can easily become one of our best, and soon, by next year. What could you possibly be going on to discount him so soon? Surely not his true freshman year only?
You mean you haven't heard?
Tide Warrior is now a non-committable Bammer fan.
I believe he found out the the speaker his uncle took him to listen to was actually Ralph "Shug" Jordan the old Auburn coach instead of Bear Bryant. He may be on so many anti-depressants that he is unable to get on VN.
I know I've not missed him one bit.
If the counts are right presumably as guys of more need become interested we will be telling guys to shop options. Appears it happened with Reid and Cherry. More to follow.
The reports seem to be that it did not happen with Cherry. Cherry made the decision to visit TX with the UT coaches telling him not to. His trip cost him his spot.
Now Reid? Oliver? Hard to say if they are doing it on their own, or were told to. I'd imagine if a coach told me to "seek other options", I would be de-committed in about 10 seconds. I doubt I would want my name on that list knowing they did not want me. JMO
Cherry did not get replaced. Cherry decided to take the visit and the coaches basically said if you are taking the visit then we are going to open up the LB recruitment. Cherry didn't like that and took his ball and left.
Each situation is different so it is impossible to say that all these are being told the same thing. If you were a smart kid though you would keep the commitment until you found a better one otherwise you end up like Cherry with no where to go.
I agree with the last part. IF I took a visit on my own, I would probably not feel the need to de-commit till I found something I liked better. Now IF I was told to take visits(look elsewhere), I would de-commit on the spot. It does not really matter if I found something better or not if the school I'm committed to isn't going to allow me to sign.
I get your point and of course that is you opinion so you are more than entitled to it, I just look at it from a perspective of I will use my "commitment" as leverage to get as good an offer or better as I can get. Kind of like the "dream job" game that coaches play.
Just a different perspective is all.
Something else to consider. If you're "committed" as in still listed as a commitment, do you think more schools may come in late with an offer if you decided to de-commit publicly? I see that play out a lot. Especially with instate kids. Schools don't offer until they know the kid is actually looking around.
