'15 TN TE Kyle Oliver (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Not a big deal if he flips. Spot could go to someone better and we are in on a few good TEs next year. Helm and Wolf aren't going anywhere and Branisel should be better next year

I don't think some understand how our new offense runs (will run) TEs vs H-Backs. This kid is an important asset IMO.

I hope he doesn't visit Vandy. Or flip

He probably figured it would be more fun to watch all the games on TV rather than have to sit in the cold and watch Vandy struggle with OD

247 knows he is flipping, they dropped him from the 18th player in the state of TN to 28th.

Ouch.

Three-star tight end Kyle Oliver of Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has been committed to Tennessee since June. But he’s still hearing from a few other teams.
The three-star senior tight end from Murfreesboro’s Oakland High School received a scholarship offer from Vanderbilt a little more than three weeks ago, and he said he’s likely to visit a few other schools leading up to National Signing Day despite remaining firmly committed to Tennessee.
Oliver said he recently has drawn interest from Alabama and Ohio State, and he has heard plenty from Vanderbilt since getting his offer from the Commodores on Oct. 14.
“I’m listening to what they have to say,” said Oliver, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 21 tight end and the No. 18 overall prospect from the state of Tennessee in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class.
“I’m still hard Vol, though. I can’t see myself going to any other school.”
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Oliver said he has visited Vanderbilt “a few times” in the past, most recently to attend the Commodores’ home game Sept. 20 against South Carolina, and they have made him a high priority since extending an offer to him last month.
Two of his friends — Oakland teammate Josh Smith, a four-star linebacker who’s committed to Vanderbilt, and Commodores freshman safetyEmmanuel Smith, a former Oakland standout — have been talking with Oliver “nonstop” over the past several weeks, he said, in hopes of convincing him to join them at Vanderbilt.
“I’ve been there a few times. I like what I’ve seen. But I’ll be looking into it a little bit,” Oliver said.
“I know their tight end (Steven Scheu), like, leads the SEC in catches or something like that. I like to hear that, but I’m really up there because ofEmmanuel Smith. We’re real good friends. That’s one of the main reasons I’m up there — to support him. … I mean, (Vanderbilt’s coaches) call Josh to get in my head, get Vanderbilt in my head. They contact me a lot, too.”
Oliver said more offers might be on the way, too.
“Ohio State has (been the most serious),” he said. “(Alabama) coach (Nick) Saban called not this past Sunday, but the Sunday before. They said they saw my film or whatever, and they needed a tight end, so they were going to put it in consideration. I’ll be waiting for that.
“I’ve been talking to (tight ends/fullbacks coachTim) Hinton from Ohio State, and they like me a lot, too. He said he’s pretty sure I’ll be getting an offer here soon.”
But even if more offers roll in for Oliver between now and signing day, he said he doesn’t expect to change his mind about Tennessee.
“It’s home,” said Oliver, who has attended the Vols’ home games against Utah State, Florida and Chattanooga. “I feel at home when I’m there — not only just because it’s Tennessee, and I’m from Tennessee. But I feel like, when I’m there, I’m with family. It’s a real good brotherhood there, and I’m real cool with the commits and current players there.
“It’s a family thing, so I can feel the love coming my way just every time I’m there, and I just can’t wait to be there for good.”

Good read. Sounds like he's covering all the bases just in case. I get it.

Would anyone shed a tear if he went somewhere else?

Yes it would mean missing on a TE this cycle but if it means we can squeeze in an additional olineman or dlineman I say we win.

one look at the Vanderbilt program right now and that should be all it takes to see everything you need to see.

If we missed on him we would look for another TE. Butch wants 1 TE per class. He holds that position at a premium

We took three last year. Wolfe and Helm have played and will be sophomores. Creamer is redshirting and will be a freshman next year.

I's perfer to keep Oliver but I won't lose any sleep if he goes elsewhere.

Covering all of your bases sometimes can open the door for you being put out.

Yup.

With Oliver taking visits and Devonaire Clarington complaining on 247 that Miami does not contact him enough, maybe CBJ gives DC some attention. I think Vols are/were in his top 5.
