Need to "Michigan-Proof" CBJ (Butch Jones and Michigan merged)

Poll: Does UT retain Butch?

If Butch cares about championships, which I assume he does, he will stay put. UT is closer to a title than Michigan. From the outside looking in, he really does look like he believes in what he is teaching VFL

Butch isn't going anywhere any time soon. He knows Tennessee is no stepping stone. Can we get over the battered fan syndrome that Kiffin started any time soon?

A couple of really good points here. In my opinion, Butch has bought into "we" and Tennessee as much as anyone. He may not be a "Tennessee man" but he sure acts like one. To be the best, you have to beat the best. He picked up a Power "T"eam on the bottom and will Rise to the Top. Notwithstanding unreasonable amounts of money, I believe him when he says this is his destination.

As far as the other point, the Kiffin and battered fan syndrome is a good analogy. Got left by Kiffin and the rebound was worse - what Tennessee may have gotten in integrity, it lost in people skills and coaching acumen. I do think many Vol fans (especially the most vocal) wish for the best but expect he worst. Butch has changed the culture of the football team but there is seemingly a lot of fans who have no faith, no patience, or both.

I'm more likely to win the lottery than Butch is to go to Michigan.

And I haven't even bought a ticket.

The only evidence to why he would go to Michigan is the fact he is from there. Also Butch hasn't done anything on the field yet to get a ton of interest from Michigan. They want results soon and Butch isn't going to do that immediately. Idk just interesting

On paper, Hoke has recruited with the best of them. The rebuild there would be much easier than UT from a roster and schedule standpoint.

Easier to win in the big 10. I honestly don't see how they could sell their fans a guy that has won 2 conference games

Who cares honestly at this point. UT football will be fine if he stays or goes. He would be a dumb A for letting this go on for a long time though considering it could impact his recruiting efforts. Any coach that does not respond to these types of rumors is usually looking for another job imo....If Butch wants to be the next General Neyland then he needs to say he is here to stay for the long haul. To be honest, he has done nothing at this point on the field to deserve a raise. Wins and losses bro, wins and losses.

There's not an opening in Ann Arbor. So you want him to say he won't be the coach of a program that currently has a coach? That would make him look like an idiot.

"Butch Jones is interested in the position." Yep and Nick Saban is going to Texas. :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Why do you post this same BS in multiple threads? Butch is from MI, played in MI, coached in MI, his wife is from MI Mahoney is from MI, Jancek is from MI, Elder is from MI, Azzani is from MI, played in MI, coached in MI. It's not even close to the same scenario as Saban to Texas.

One makes sense, whether it comes to fruition or not. Saban to TX didn't make any sense other than from a potential money standpoint.

We are 2-3 years away from championship level talent, to me it would be crazy to take such a step back as Michigan would be. Not worried as of now.

Anything could happen and they may strike out on the first few and work their way down to CBJ, if so Hart and co better step up.

He would be an idiot for saying he is not interested in taking any other jobs, open or not?

You will see. UM will hire another coach and these posts about CBJ considering the UM job will look just as stupid as the Saban to Texas deal.

If I were somehow proven wrong, then I will freely admit my idiocy on the matter.

I think this is a time when Kiffin leaving us could help.
Jones will have to recognize the similarities between the situations, and how quickly USC turned on Lane.

I thought UT should have went after him when they hired Dooley.

He's a Mormon, played for BYU and has been at Utah for 20 yrs he's not leaving on his own accord. I don't know why people think that everyone is interested in leaving a job just because X pays more or is more tradition. There's something to be said for enjoying where you live and enjoying who you work with/for.

For example, I don't think there's any amount of money that could make me move to California. I have family and friends close by, I love the weather of TN, I love the scenery, the people etc. that stuff isn't worth giving up for money.

Yes. You want him to go to the podium or issue a press release saying I'm not interested in a job that's not even open? It would be undermining to Hoke who's still employed and potentially employed moving forward and arrogant on Butch's part to assume he's even a candidate.

No one has said he's leaving or would leave. They're saying it makes sense on a deeper level. There would be more than just money at stake. You act is if theres absolutely no reason for Butch to consider it.

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure I'm buying that Whittingham wouldn't leave Utah. There was a lot of talk before Graham was ultimately hired at ASU that Whittingham almost took the job. Apparently there was interest from him anyway. I think for the right amount of money and right school he would indeed leave Utah.
