I'm sure some on here will take this the wrong way, but whatever:

Michigan's fans and boosters are going to demand a big name. They may not get Les Miles or one of the Harbaughs, but that's what they're going after. At the end of this year, Jones will have (at best) a 13-12 record as a major conference football coach. That's not going to cut it for the diehards up there. They have no interest in even considering that they can't hit a grand slam.
Wisdom from the mouth of a bammer.
Think about that for a second, VN.

I found this interesting from the article:
"Two different college coaching sources said in their opinion, Jones would have strong interest in the position."

Don't see a problem here. Jones isn't going anywhere now. Maybe in a few years once Michigan is rebuilt a little, but not now.

Are they the same fans and boosters that were there when they hired a 13-12 Brady Hoke away from San Diego State?

How many big name coaches are there? What if Miles, Harbaugh, or whoever doesn't want to go to Michigan? Then where are they left? Going to the fourth or fifth option.

That's when you start worrying. I don't even think you can say that Michigan, without a doubt, will land a top tier coach.

I told you all to be patient. This was all part of the plan. Michigan will hire Butch Jones and Jon Gruden will take over. Soon.

hes not going anywhere. When youre just on the verge of putting out a dumpster fire you dont go jump into another one. People know hes from Michigan so they start writing articles like this.

Thats possible but I really think it would be dumb for Mich tk hire him based on a win over SC.

That's the thing. Neither of the Harbaughs are coming. Mullen and Les Miles are longshots at best. That immediately puts you at option #5.

I wouldn't say impossible but highly unlikely that Michigan can get a big name. When was the last time a big name coach left a program for another? I can't think of one recently. Even Meyer was 2 years removed from coaching before taking the Ohio State job.

Let him go.............if we could just land a competent hire. And these are just off the top of my head.........

Rich Rodriguez
Rhett Lashlee
Gary Patterson
Mark Dantonio
Ruffin McNeill
David Cutcliffe
Pat Narduzzi
Todd Graham

I wouldn't see him leaving as the end of the world. But of course I don't get it, I'm not a fan, I don't understand the game, I'm a troll, etc....

Butch is 22-35 against teams at or above .500 at the time of playing, and 21-33 against teams that ended the season at .500 or above. Don't go out and give him a raise if Michigan decides they want him.

Most of those guys on my list won't win a press conference but they certainly show they can win on the field.
