I have 465 posts in this thread. I'd imagine with usually the same group of people responding to what I say, there would be others close to that # if not more. We'll call it a team effort. :)

I found this in a BR article about Dormady earlier. It's about where Gibson stood for us at QB.

"Following Ferguson's transfer, there was no way Jones could wait on 5-star top quarterback target Gibson to make a decision that could drag all the way to national signing day."

Yea the 247 article backed up what I have been saying. Can't wait and not take Dormady. But we are still very much after TG.

It's still early summer. Statistically, QB's tend to lock up their recruitment by the end of the summer. If TG had set a specific target during the summer...like at an Elite 11 camp or something, then I bet CBJ would have slow-played Dormady and others until then. But there is no chance we are waiting until NSD for his decision. That's just being a diva, looking for attention.

I don't know why people keep saying this. Even some of the recruiting service reps. GVX Audio: QB Quinten Dormady commits to Vols » GoVolsXtra

The only chance we would have is if Jennings was being recruited as something other than QB. But he is not. We have 2QB's now in the boat and there is no more room for another. Our pursuit of TG ended with Dormady's commitment. TG had his chance.

He wanted teams to adjust to his timetable...but CBJ basically said "Funk that noise! We ain't leaving our ship in the harbor for months on end. This vessel is sailing....TONIGHT, brother! Are you on board or aren't you?"

Don't see the downside to continue to try to pull TG. You can always tell him we are recruiting you as QB first, same as JJ, but if it becomes apparent you aren't going to win that battle, we can find something else for you to do. any one of these guys should have enough confidence in his own ability to step up to that challenge. If they don't, they probably don't belong in the mix anyway.

Tennessee – Tennessee can breathe a big sigh of relief with the commitment of Dormady on Monday night. For a program in desperate need of depth at the quarterback position, Tennessee was running out of options for elite passers in the 2015 cycle. So they are still recruiting Gibson . They took Dormady because we need qbs and couldn't afford to wait and maybe miss. We still want Gibson though and will be waiting on his decision. We were in a desperate spot and needed a good qb. So we needed a for sure one. We have one now and can afford to wait on Gibson.


Plus he is still on campus. The audio you linked says we are still going hard after him and all the teams he is looking at have qbs committed. It starts at about 6 min in.

That's patently false. Jennings is as legit of a QB prospect as most any in this class. In fact, if I had to chose between Jennings and Francois as a QB, I'd take Jennings all day, every day. Heck...I would take Jennings over Dormady, if it came down to just those two.
