Your missing a key point here. IF 1 or both of the "ATH" QBs switched positions, it would likely be too late to sign a 2016 QB. Consider that QB recruiting is just about done for 2015. All the top kids have just about decided. This time next year our 2015 QBs will just be starting out at UT. 2016 QB recruiting would be a lost cause. Once again, you can't take 3 in 2015.
The coaches are smart. If they take three they will tell the 2016 kids the others qbs may switch positions if they don't take the job or look strong at qb. It will work out.

Try looking at this from TG's perspective gang. He now knows there are two QB commitments at UT. Why would he want to come? If he wanted to come to UT he would have committed previously before Dormady had a chance. He knows he fits at the Barn and told the world they were at the top. He visits other schools. He is playing the game and it is just like Adoree. Move on TG disciples. Your QB savior has forsaken you.
You have to understand LV position. According to him Gibson is not a good QB and cannot improve as a passer in his senior year nor at the college level. He assumes that JJ is automatically the better QB. He also assumes that JJ will be a QB at UT even though that has yet to be determined. He thinks he knows more about numbers and evaluating talent than our coaching staff.
I agree 100% the coaches are smart. They made the right move IMO. They took Quinten Dormady now instead of hoping TG picked UT on NSD. Great decision IMO.
Tough to tell 2016 QBs that a couple of the current UT QBs may not play QB in early spring when the film shows them you know, playing QB. "What do you think Austin, ya wanna be QB # 4+5 in the last 2 classes for the Vols"? "I'm not sure Jarrett, they might try to add 2 more if they run a 4.4".lol:
I must have come late to the party but who is the third QB?
We have QD and would likely take a second this class if the were a good fit.....
Domino effect: Quinten Dormady, Blake Barnett cause movement

Tennessee Tennessee can breathe a big sigh of relief with the commitment of Dormady on Monday night. For a program in desperate need of depth at the quarterback position, Tennessee was running out of options for elite passers in the 2015 cycle. The only negative to that Dormady commitment is that it hurts the Vols in their Torrance Gibson hunt. Auburn could be slowly taking the edge for the athletic lefty.
So yes we took him. We better had before we didn't get a qb at all. But we are still recruiting TG and QD commit could be a negative because of that. If QD was better it wouldn't be a negative nor would we be still trying to pull TG.
So like I have been saying of course we took him we needed a for sure good qb. BUT TG is elite and we are still after him hard. So win, win. We take a good qb to be sure we have one. The we continue to recruit the truly elite top guy who we may or may not get.
You're not going to change LV mind. He is a TG hater that is one of the few people who doesn't think he is elite. I totally agree with you though. How could we lose by signing TG?
You mean like a hypothetical situation where a "5* QB" was so impressive in camp making throws, that they asked him to start running routes?
