Helped when Micheal Penix fell in his lap at Washington..

Interesting to think how DeBoer would have done in Big Ten this upcoming season..

Washington is losing Penix, two top WR's, Running back gone ..

Only offensive player that produced coming back was McMillan at WR, oh yea and Will Rogers from the portal to play QB..

He won when he wasn’t expected to. Now he’s going to be under more pressure than any coach ever going against the best coaches and teams…that all want to beat AL to take out years of frustration. It just means way more!

True. My main point is that I'd think at least JJJ at this point would be a 15 point a game scorer. I believe he is that talented. But, it just doesn't seem that it's in his nature in terms of aggression.

Both would easily score 15 a game with more attempts.

Your main point is kind of misguided. As a team we averaged 62 FG attempts per game. Based on averages our top 3 in attempts are DK, Aidoo, and ZZ. Not many 4th or 5th options are scoring 15 points a game.

The only thing we need to improve is for both JJJ & Santi to raise their % for FGs and 3PTs. If they can each be a 40%+ shooter from the field and hit at closer to 35% or better from deep then they'll be helping this team make it's first FF.

JJJ has struggled in the last few games but is at 34% from 3 for the year. SV is at 32%. I agree, if both can hang around 35%. SV has actually missed some open ones.

Thanks for all the numbers. Good to keep in mind. I still don't think the point is misguided. With JJJ's height and athletic abilities, I'd expect him to be scoring more throughout his career. But, he just doesn't strike me as an 'alpha' character. Grateful he is here though and he plays an important role.

Yep, just hit 'em when they come. I know most players need volume to start "feeling" it but both are more than capable of reaching those numbers.

Of course even at those % it wouldn't push either to 15 points per game with their attempts...it would just offer some consistent secondary scoring so we don't have such long droughts when DK is on the bench.

JJJ has had 6 games where he hit 2 or fewer shots, and still took north of 5 attempts on average. Santi's had 10 games hitting 2 or less from the field and 3 where he didn't hit a shot.

But to act like the team and players don't know this is silly. They're constantly working on improving and adjusting things to allow for the offense to have less droughts. DK being the dude he is and Aidoo's increased role I don't think many other guys are going to push to average 12 points a game on this team. But JJJ & Santi both didn't return to shoot the ball 12 or more times a game and rack up points, they came back to win.

BBall Q. Why are JJJ and Viscovi not producing more? At this point, I'd think JJJ would be a prolific offensive contributor. Though, with Kinect now scoring so well, maybe that hampers the output.

Thoughts from Bammers:

Can only be described as an unmitigated disaster. I cannot imagine how this could have gone much worse. If this were a transition within a company a lot of people would be fired.

We need to be 110% in triage mode for the next month and just focus on slowing the damage. Pay whatever NIL money you have to pay to stop the bleeding and figure the rest out later.

Never in a million years would I have thought that Saban’s retirement would be this much of a cluster. Hopefully there will at least be some lessons learned after the fact, but Jesus Christ those lessons will be costly learning.

After doing a deep dive I genuinely believe that Austin Mack will end up being a better QB than Nico Iamaleava.

Have loved the hire of KD and most of his staff. The one big question/concern was recruiting in the SEC which is something like he's never seen before. WAs hoping Saban could bring him along, and that he'd fill his staff with SEC recruiting animals. Watching them fail to recruit their own roster well--even the offensive side which is their strength, officially has me alarmed. If they can't convince a guy like Sayin to stay (not to mention guys like Proctor) after all the success they had at Washington, how are we to expect they can recruit elite high school players? His classes at Washington were not good. This is not a good start. KD is either going to have to pivot (and quickly) to a much more savage style of recruiting, or he won't last 2 years in the SEC.

Thanks for all the numbers. Good to keep in mind. I still don't think the point is misguided. With JJJ's height and athletic abilities, I'd expect him to be scoring more throughout his career. But, he just doesn't strike me as an 'alpha' character. Grateful he is here though and he plays an important role.

Then I have to assume your question was just a subtle way to take a jab at JJJ for being a selfless player.

He's never been a 15 ppg guy, but he's also never been a 10 shots a game guy either.

None of UT's top PPG guys shot fewer than 12 FGAs for their career...

King for his career was an 18 shots a night guy, Ernie took 17 a night, Houston took 15, White over 13 a night, and was over 17 a night in both of his last 2 seasons, Lofton was a 12 a night guy but 8 of them were from deep

Because of everything else he does JJJ is a presence we keep on the court. But he's never been the #1 option on offense in his career.

Year 1 it was Turner, Bowden, and Fulky
Year 2 Springer, Keon & Bailey lead the way
Year 3 it was Chandler and Santi as the first two options
Year 4 we had 4 guys getting near even opportunities with Santi leading the pack
this year it's DK and Aidoo with ZZ rising as the 3rd option

JJJ isn't being asked to be option #1 and he's not demanding it either. He's been a part of an SECT win and Sweet Sixteen team with a chance this year to have a deeper March run. I think him and Santi both have had damn good careers here. But they both play the way Barnes wants, max effort on defense and with high IQ.
