A telling quote from CBJ

Richmond is an Ole Miss lock, MUS Memphis high school connection.. Just like he has with Whitehaven here in Memphis
I don't know about that. CBJ is working on it, overtime, and He's been to the games. He can see this team is closer to where Ole Miss is at, than the record would indicate....the only remaining deficiency is the Offensive line. To which Richmond would be part of the solution. He won't find a better chance to start right away than at UT. We both know CBJ is selling that.

Plus, he's good friends with Khalil McKenzie...who is working him hard to flip to UT. He ain't a lock. Not by a long shot.

"I am a realist, the only way to fix this is through recruiting"

That tells me this offensive line has hit the wall, they simply aren't talented enough to truly compete and will not be, what that also tells me is o-line will not be a strength next year either and with a less experienced QB we may continue to struggle. We HAVE to pickup guys like Richmond who can compete immediately.

That's nothing but a pitiful excuse from Butch. Other coaches have gotten better turn around results with supposedly poor talent. Case in point, look at Hugh Freeze. Also, in the case of our OL, look at Kiffin's 1 year here, he had two walk-ons starting yet we had an OL coach that coached them up.

It's starting to look like Butch is just an excuse maker, instead of taking responsibility to fix the poor offensive coaching problem.

Please state your football resume. I mean, being critical is one thing, but you act like an omniscient football god. I hate your attitude. Take a pill, man. Life is bigger than football.

I didn't realize I was interviewing for your approval.

It also tells me he is not willing to change schemes to accomodate for some of the talent deficiencies. This is where I have a major problem with the direction this team is headed this season and future seasons. A staff must know how to make adjustments. To date I have not seen any.

I'm telling you now he's a lock.. Get back with me in Feb if I'm wrong I'll admit it ten fold but he's not coming here, got friends close to the MUS program.

Get ready to lose some skilled player recruits cause if it's gonna take 3 years to develop an average OL through recruiting the Preston Williams of the world will go elsewhere.

I said this2 weeks ago and got killed for it. All he has to do is look at North's lack of production this year & realize we are a dumpster fire offensively with this line. Some fat kids down at the frat house couldn't do worse.

Walk on 23 yr old men, like Gilliam, started on the OL for Kiffin. Not walk on 18 yr olds. Just to clarify for those with Kiffin posters still on the wall.
I'm sure it's the same to some of you, but clarifying anyway.

So both of you are saying Preston is gone. Got it. Here is a quick note. HS athletes like Preston have more balls than you guys have and have a better understanding. They also take losses like men, instead of men taking losses like little girls.

He's not going anywhere, but maybe you could move on with your uninformed bs.

I'm sure that long snapper has played center that's what they usually do.. I agree

A 235 lb center in the SEC. Nah, unless he's puttin on 70 lbs real quick, he's coming here as a specialist, as a long snapper only.

Recruiting is certainly part of the solution but the jury is still out on some of the coaches currently on staff.

CBJ seems to be operating under the assumption that he can recruit, recruit, recruit while everybody waits patiently and endures the interim slop on the field. Recruiting needs to translate to on-field improvement and wins. If we don't make a bowl this year, coaches will have failed to meet their own goals two years in a row. If next year is more of the same, then he has also failed at translating talent into wins. We're not paying him $3.2 million to be recruiting coordinator. We're paying him to find ways to win games-- and winning six games with 4* and 5* talent isn't reaching for the stars.
Amen, brother.

If I were him I would fill all remaining slots in this class with juco O lineman. Not sure why Blair is on the bench, but we need guys that can compete and play right away.

I remember Butch saying that his preference is not go the JUCO route...he likes to recruit right out of high school and build them up...b/c going the JUCO route leaves to many gaps...but that is not to say he will not go that way....to get a player or 2 to help out in the mean while....

While this is a good idea for next year you can't over do the juco signings. A couple proven linemen would be good but for the long run you need top ranked high school linemen to make your program grow.

So you're saying Ole Miss has poor talent?

It would be great if we could grab a couple of those graduate transfers . Guys that are 21-22 yrs old stuck playing behind NFL type talent . Guys that just need some PT to show they are good . Probably wouldn't hear anything about those kind of guys until the season is over though. It would be a good stop gap option

I've been pretty well convinces that the Offensive staff is not good enough to coach in this league. Defensive staff is fine. Even though Butch is a hard worker I don't think he can make the changes needed in the offensive side of the staff. They have been with him too long. That is a weakness in his long term success. AS far as I am concerned, making excuses for the offensive performance is not acceptable. Football is not rocket science and making the process to improvement too complicated is just a lack of coaching talent.

We have 5 OL recruits committed already. 2 who are rated in the Top 300(Jones and Boulware) by ESPN.

But I agree we need JUCO help on the OL.

What this tells me:

"We don't have a talented OL and our OL Coach and OC are not talented enough coaches to compensate for this. The only way we can fix this is to recruit better players. And then not play them. So we're sitting on now a 3+ year rebuild."

Kiffin/Chaney/Cregg played 2 walk-ons on the OL. I guess they just got lucky with picking up the 260lb Sullins twins.

And the 2013 UT OL now has, what, 3 on the 2-deep and 2 starting in the NFL? If that isn't enough talent, I don't know what is.

I'm sick of the bull$hit and excuses.

We have a consensus 4* JUCO on the OL.

He's just on the bench.

Is is scouting or coaching that is the problem? Given the fact that FSU, Auburn and TAMU all wanted him, I'll assume it's the latter.

Our receivers are rarely open. Whether it's the scheme (my belief) or they just aren't ready. Either way, there is very rarely a wr that is truly open.

I don't think he should load up on JUCO guys but one or two JUCO linemen couldn't hurt us any worse than starting these awful freshmen

JC guys are hit and miss, and I think CBJ may be worried that even more experience is not going to help some of these guys get better. So, next year -- we've got these same guys and probably playing a frosh at QB. I think we're looking at 2016 to start winning again. It could be another long season next year.
