2016 Election Thread Part Deux

CNN doing a full interview with the clown who tried to rush Trump in Cleveland, and touting him as some sort of hero shows how far gone this country is. Sad that we've fallen this far in only 8 years time.

It took a guy bumrushing the guy who advocates for war crimes, violence, and constitutional limits and who apparently treats the position of the presidency like it's just another reality TV role for you to reach this conclusion?

The left has been hijacked and is now ruled by far left hacks and socialists. They used to believe is free speech, now anytime anyone comes to their communist universities they shout them down and silence them. Electing a socialist community organizer wasnt enough for them, they continue to be unhinged. They are a disgusting group of people.

I heard one of the snotty Trumpers that CNN consistently brings on for only God knows what reason this morning indict those protesting at Trump rallies as "the anti-Consitutionalists." She didn't even dignify them with any other name. I got a good laugh out of that, as the self-denial was heavy and palpable. You could cut it with a butter knife.

Trumper anti-Constitutionalists and liberal anti-Constitutionalists are each like a drug addict who is the only person that doesn't think they're a drug addict. Everyone else that knows them can clearly see that they have a problem with addiction, yet the drug addict thinks he's just a misunderstood guy that likes to take the edge off a little after a stressful day. He can't understand why everyone is giving him such a hard time and being so unfair to him. Meanwhile, he just went and wrecked another car and punched another hole through a wall at his girlfriend's house.

Typical confused liberal response.

I'm a John Kasich supporter, and I believe you've just hit another pedestrian on the side of the road this morning.

Question for you then (no troll, promise)

If you are a Kasich supporter, why not Rubio? Many if not most of their stances are the same.

Just curious and an open question to those who support Kasich.

Sarah Palin canceled some events for Trump in FL today because her husband, Todd, has been involved in a serious snowmobile accident. On her way back to Alaska.

The left this morning on Twitter were mocking her over her cancelling the event. Whoops.

It's largely over foreign policy. I already have enough problems with Kasich's foreign policy, for instance, his desire to set up a No-Fly-Zone over Syria and to send some 10,000 troops to Iraq/Syria. Asking me to handle Rubio's, however, is too much. It's entirely possible he would moderate in a general election, but, even so, Rubio moderating from his current stance on foreign policy would bring him down to just one notch below Genghis Khan. I've had enough of that after eight years of Bush and after another eight years of a bumbling (yet never too stupid) Obama foreign policy.

Foreign policy ranks low on a lot of people's radars when it comes to presidential elections, but, for me, it ranks among the top. The reason why is simple: foreign policy is the one domain wherein a president has few limitations on his power and his approach. On a side note, Trump's more "hands-off" approach is appealing here, but I fear he would burn so many bridges with allies it would both complicate the international security situation and potentially put us on the fast-track to the dumping of the dollar as the reserve currency.

Plus, I think Kasich has a better track record and would have more capability to reach across the aisle. The latter, of course, is largely speculative, but he does have a decent history of working effectively with those of other ideological backgrounds.

I am no fan of the Palins but my prayers are with the family. Hopefully Todd will be okay. I may not agree with them politically but I do not want anything bad happen to any member of the family.

This gave me a chuckle. Though I don't think it's as bad as you portray.

It's still on my higher list of things to look for since it directly involved me for 20 years. But you are correct it has tended to go by the wayside in recent years as domestic concerns have become far more highlighted.

Agree.

Thanks for the in depth reply.

No problem. Whenever anyone ever wants to have a rational discussion, I'm always open.

Prof gave a good answer on foreign policy - though I'm no fan of Kasich's either. On the other hand, Trump and Cruz sometimes say absolutely ridiculous things that seriously make me question their sanity with regards to foreign policy. I've come to the conclusion that there's nobody in the field that combines great ideas (in my opinion, of course) with good temperament.

I think Kasich has good economic ideas and valuable experience dealing with the budget and as an executive. He's probably the most moderate on social issues out of any of the GOP candidates other than Trump, who couldn't care less. Some people see him as a compromiser, but behind the scenes he apparently can be a bit of a stubborn mule and even a maverick at times - a mix like that is fine with me. Better than an uncompromising ideologue like Obama or Cruz. Most importantly, he seems sane.

So basically he wins by default, by being the least worst option. I don't think Rubio is ready and he just doesn't have a record of major success as a legislator. It doesn't really help that he backed away from the signature legislation that would have helped give him that sort of credibility. The immigration issue is tearing apart the party.

There are literally dozens of us who still value sanity!

So many still hopeful! I've concluded that the inmates have taken over the political world - some wild eyed whackos, some programmed/reprogrammed to an agenda, and some lobotomized robots. Although through it all, their Pavlovian instincts remain tuned to the scent of money.

Who doesn't like Kasich? Problem is the guy isn't going to be president, bottom line. People like you don't like Trump because he doesn't give two craps about the PC police that currently rule this country. But he has never incited violence, racism, or anything else, that part is all made up by the left (and some on the right) who don't want him to succeed.

Yes, you're exactly right: I don't like Trump because I'm a PC bro. Just like I was a "liberal" before.

I'll make a deal with you: you prove to me why I shouldn't take seriously Trump's suggestions that he wants to restructure how the press functions and how violence should be used to shut down those that disagree with him, and I'll promise not to be such an unfair PC bro from now on.

"Authorities in North Carolina are considering whether to press charges against GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump after a protester was assaulted during one of his rallies in Fayetteville, according to WRAL.com.

The Cumberland County sheriff’s office, while conducting an investigation into the sucker-punch and alleged threats against the protester, went over the speech that Trump gave during the rally “with a fine-tooth comb,” WRAL reporter Gilbert Baez told MSNBC News.

“During their analysis of that speech, there were several instances where Trump made comments that incited the folks to continue the violent acts during that rally,” Baez said."
