Old white man shoots pregnant black woman intruder (he's going to jail)

If you have never been robbed, particularity while you are actually in the house, you don't understand. Much the same as telling a rape victim you understand.

Shooting someone in self-defense is permitted when you are in fear for your life or risk great bodily harm. The man was not in either of those situations once the assailants turned tail and ran away.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that if two people broke into my house and kicked my ass like that, I wouldn't be running after them once they left. I'd thank my lucky stars and reload my weapon in case they came back. Then, I would call the police immediately.

That bad of a shot? :)

Lmao. You went THERE with this?

Only when your age, maturity, and worldly experience brings you to the point of accusing someone half your age on a message board of dealing drugs, implying that you deserved to be robbed at gunpoint.

A bastion of wisdom, those two.

Precisely.

I missed the part where you were accused of dealing drugs. I also missed the part where you said it wasn't related to drugs.

So, if I asked you "Did you watch an episode of Glee because you're gay or because you like the musical numbers," that would not, in your eyes, be speculating that you were a homosexual?

I don't think it's everyone's automatic duty when they were robbed to state that it wasn't related to drugs. One could speculate they stole the things they stole for the purpose of cashing in to buy drugs, so you could say that the robbery itself may have been drug related.

I didn't see either of you ask if the robbery in the OP was drug related.

Yeah, I agree the man should not have shot the woman. You can't have vigilantes being judge, jury, executioner. I think he should be charged with something like manslaughter no matter what his age.

Maybe the story in the OP was drug related. Maybe they were stealing the old man's Viagra and that's how she got pregnant in the first place.

So was your robbery drug related? Your answer isn't going to have any affect on our friendship, I'm just genuinely curious.

No it's not.

You literally have no clue what you're talking about.

He works in a bar. Openly admits & defends using every drug along with supporting legality so it's a pretty legit question. Of course he may have thought he was being robbed & flipped on a couple people he was getting high with, being bipolar & all.

I don't even know where to begin with how classless this is.

I was not robbed due to drugs. I lived in a poor neighborhood because I was doing a lot of real estate rehab in the area, and I had a lot of nice electronic equipment in my house as well as other niceties (a couple of high end laptops, a projector, tablets, sports memorabilia, jewelry, guitars). They probably nabbed about 20 grand's worth of stuff. My roommates were out of town and my dog shat the bed on alerting me.

Satisfied?

1. No longer work in a bar. Back in Tennessee.

2. I've experimented with plenty of stuff in a safe manner. I've also skydived, rafted, base jumped, and cliffdove. I'm an adventurous soul.

3. Aside from a love affair with bourbon and the occasional joint, I don't really alter my mind so much anymore.

4. Saying someone supporting the decriminalization implicates them as an addict and/or dealer is beyond stupid, and even beyond par for you.

Yes. Did they threaten to kill you?
