Has your trainer taught you both the low bar/high bar back squat?

We don't do low bar often.

It's basic below parallel that gets me. Even in front squat. I have hip flexor issues. Theyre crazy tight. I'm doing a lot of mobility work though. Tonight was MUCH better. No aching for once. I should be able to go heavier next time.
 
My max back squat is 285#. I prefer the low bar back squat. If I use the high bar method I feel like im gonna tip over. Scary feeling when you have almost 300#'s on your back. Lulz

Low bar isn't awkward as far as holding it goes? I've just got to get form down. It was AWFUL at first. I was so used to only hitting parallel. I may go meet with an Oly coach in Atl soon.
 
It feels a little awkward at first because your arms are back further and lower down. Not sure what you mean about only going parallel. Long as you go parallel or lower it's a good lift, IMO.

They say you are supposed to just break parallel.
 
I've only heard parallel or lower. Kind a gray area there.

I always liked to watch the guys in the regular gym load up the bar and do 1/4 squats. Lol

I'm still only around 3 months in to crossfit. I know a lot of my lifts will improve with time. I just have zero patience.

I find that pretty funny to. I've always barely done a squat but when I started crossfit, I was perplexed at how low folks were getting.

Yep. I was squatting and the owner walked up and basically asked me WTF I was doing. Lol Did 3 correctly and said eff this. It hurts and I have to drop weight. Lol
