Zimmerman Trial

Arias trial- her looks
Anthony trial- some mom who didnt know her kid was missing for weeks
Zimmerman trial- the cops had it right the first time, no charges. only because of media and social media we have an arrest and trial.

I guess understand why they get popular, but what I don't get is why people would rather focus on these things than stuff that's infinitely more important to the entire country.

It's basically just reality television. More of a statement on our society, I guess.

Could one not make that statement about anything we watch? Football is not infinitely more important but we watch it. Some people just like to watch these kinds of things.

Sure, I suppose.

I just view these as a little different because in this case we're applying a glamorific sheen onto someone's death. And then these cases get media attention and public outrage and the trials can end up all distorted and weird.

I think this trial has attention because:

1) regardless of the outcome justice probably won't be served. 2 guys made bad mistakes that night; one is dead and one is on trial. Not sure any outcome is really satisfactory.

2) it is cloaked in race and race relations

3) it is a surrogate trial for media bias and how media shapes perceptions.

Some people are just schadenfreude junkies.

I live in Florida in the same TV broadcast area, and I can tell you from living in a few other places that the race riots from these crime dramas are terrible. After all of the public outrage, it was important to know what actually happened. More generally, crime mysteries fascinate people.Check the NYT best seller list.

i am still saying guilty of something, maybe manslaughter, just so there wont be riots or something to that effect. the outcry for an arrest was to big for all this to go down the way it has. but the prosecutions case has fallen flat on it face

Yea maybe the blacks will thin out the Mexicans.

Interesting that the prosecution brought this guy to debunk GZs claimed that TM was slamming his head on the pavement. Well the guy did say he didn't see the head slamming but he did see TM on top of him "MMA style" punching him repeatedly and heard GZ screaming in fear.

Congrats prosecution you really threaded the needle here - the guy who was getting punched while lying on his back on the sidewalk said the damage on his head came from being slammed into it rather than being punched with his head against the concrete.

This makes 2 witnesses that the prosecution brought forward that in effect debunk their claim that GZ was out looking for a fight and was the aggressor.

You too have fallen for Bernie the state prosecutor's trap. For you see, in MMA one must tap out in order to stop the fight. Zimmerman merely screamed for help and never tapped Trayvon to indiciate to him that he was surrendering and wanted to end the fight. Thus, self defense can't apply.

Bernie you genius!

Trial has attention because some folks have been itching for a good riot since Rodney King. Also because of his name everyone thought George Zimmerman was white which was going to also help fuel the riot fire that some so desperately want to take part in..its time for a new flatscreen homies!

Over under on number of days before Alex, the new Sesame Street Muppet, who wears a hoodie and has a Dad in jail, is removed from the show?

Also, any guesses on possible storylines for how they get him off the show. Maybe Alex jumps Elmo and starts wailing on him MMA style using the ole Ground and Pound technique and ends up getting arrested.

"Alex is blue-haired and green-nosed and he wears a hoodie"
