Ziegler > Gillespie

Ziegler was an elite defender. Gillespie cannot prevent the drive to the basket. Gillespie perhaps a tad better offensively but overall not even close!!
Gillespie is a better scorer (by quite a bit) but a worse defender and a worse overall point guard (because he’s really a sg playing the point). This team needs a floor general and ZZ was the best to ever do that in orange.

We can talk about Gillespie all we want but without(turnovers or not) him, this team isn't even average. I loved Zakai but he also at times was loose with the ball. Gillespie does have some pieces around him, Barnes just is too stubborn to play them good minutes. I mean Evans. He has a good offensive game and he can rebound and defend. Boswell is the one that needs to come out.
I think Gillespie looks around at the end of games and sees who’s on the floor with him and that puts pressure on himself to make something happen. I agree that Barnes does seem to be stubborn about his lineup at times and I’m starting to love Evans game enough to tend to agree with you.

There are no “dogs” or “closers” on this team. When you have 10 seconds left and you need 1 basket there is not one person I would feel good about handing the ball and saying “ go get us a bucket”

I hadn’t heard that before - thought it was reported as I started earlier? Thanks
You are right about it being reported, and there was some initial interest from CRB but Tennessee didn’t want to spend any money on him probably with what they were already shelling out to Lanier. They flirted with the idea but never pursued it.

To single out Gillespie is pure ignorance. The whole team is under achieving and to lose to that UK team at home is an indictment on Rick Barnes.
They actually looked better today than they have been. I believe we’re improving and we still have another month and a half to make it all come together.

I’m not ready to count them out, but we’ll be a lower seed clawing our way in at this rate.
