NCAA should reverse decisions on Pavia, Stute and everyone else. NCAA is just super messed up.

The NCAA should crack down on the schools with rosters full of one-and-dones. Reducing their roster sizes shouldn’t create difficult legal challenges. But maybe the blue bloods control the NCAA.

Kentucky would have been out of business as soon as they hired Cal if academics were required. All those one and dones essentially did nothing in the classroom for their 7-8 months at UK.

The one and dones stop going to class after their fall semesters. I guess taking Underwater Basket Weaving 101 and another similar class or two IN the fall keeps them eligible in January. It’s now more the NBA development league than the G-League.

Happy ZZ is doing this. It is ridiculous NCAA giving some of these guys a 7th year for injuries and covid overlap. He will win case. All of these athletes need to be given 5 years. It allows NIL opportunities and chance to further degree. NIL pays more than overseas deals in most of these cases.

Trust me, UK put a ton of resources into making sure players stayed eligible and handled their business at school. That was part of the deal when he was hired. The only player who ever left under Cal in bad academic standing (that I was 100% know about) was Daniel Orton, who was dealing with his moms death. I was in summer classes with UK basketball players. Tough classes, not bs like basketweaving. They got pushed way harder than people know. Cal turned down more recruits than people realize because he didn't think they could handle the pressure of balancing everything.

That is really good insight into the special type of player required to play Div 1 basketball. What we see on the court is a small slice of all the effort it takes these guys to even be eligible to be there and then play winning basketball.

Since you are too dense to comprehend simple concepts, let me explain it to you. My comment about the state of college sports has nothing to do with ZZ. He can do what he wants and I don’t blame him for trying to get paid for another year. The situation in college sports has been discussed ad nauseum and it ain’t like it was. That was the basis for my comment about the horse being out of the barn. Pretty simple if you think about it but trolls gonna troll.

Now to end it, you should have joined the Ignore list after your ignorance with Jesus and Rick Barnes yesterday. I’m rectifying that mistake now.

I felt that way about Edey too, well apart from the undersized bit. Not that the Grizzlies are world beaters, but he looked like he belonged.

Just to know, are academic records at state institutions public records? Could be an interesting study to see the grades and the number of drops in winter sessions, Everywhere.

Grades are always private from the public according to Title IV

Thanks, had no clue, would be handy to end lots of board debates. Kind of surprised it is not a public record since tuition paid by the state. Does not seem private like medical stuff.

It’s the same for all students. It’s why you have to get your transcript sent to a potential employer and they can’t just request it themselves.

Grades aren’t made available to parents who pay tuition either which always struck me as odd.

The NCAA can make submitting grades a requirement for participating. Something else they can get sued over and lose.

The NCAA would soon be out of business if they didn’t own the rights to the NCAAT. They’re obsolete and the P-6s (or whatever’s left of them) are no doubt plotting to do their own version of the tournament.

That must be a "new" thing. As a scholarship athlete in the early to mid 1980s. The grades came directly to the house owned by my parents. Because I was still a dependent, they immediately opened the envelope with my name and grades inside of it. Same has always been true of parents actually paying for college. Yeah, it's addressed to the student, but they're still a dependent

It came out in 1975 (technically FERPA) but it’s become more of a thing over the last 10-20 years or so where colleges actually try to prevent telling everyone your grades. Most colleges no longer post all the grades for a test in the hallway, etc. Parents have rights to see it if you are under 18 or not in college though
