Zakai Zeigler suing for 5th year

Which really is odd. You put rules in place...enforce them equally and fairly. I have no problem with them telling Zeigler no. The problem is with selectively telling so many others yes, none of which are any more eligible for additional years than Zeigler. It's just crazy, and then they waste all this money and resources fighting it in and out of court when the entire situation is a product of their own doing.
Regardless of outcome, the only winners are the lawyers

Yes exactly…let’s grant 6, 7 or 8 years to players but not a 5th year who’s played in less games than those now getting a 6th year, logical.
The thing you’re not considering is that Zeigler isn’t asking for a waiver based on a circumstance. His lawyers are suing the organization and arguing that 4 year limits are unjust and should be eliminated. He is asking the system to be blown up based on no reason other than they’re keeping him from making a ton of money next year. He was never going to win because he has no case. Judges have been allowing all kinds of stupid things, but denied his because it makes no sense.

This is correct, they felt this argument was their best strategy, I’m simply stating when it comes to him and the NCAA that he has just as much a case/argument for another year as these other guys.

I don’t disagree. Stute and others who got frivolous waivers don’t deserve them anymore than Zakai. I wonder if Zakai would have won his case if they took a different angle.

I'm guessing that different angle may be the ace up their sleeve they have in mind for their appeal.

IMO that firm might be a lot of hat and not a lot of cattle. I don’t think that pushing it up to SCOTUS is necessarily in their wheel house. Of course they could bring in another firm with expertise to help if it picks up momentum. They might be fishing for a settlement from the NCAA rather than forcing Curt Flood-like innovation in SA comp. They sure spend a lot on advertising.

Simple and straight forward which begs the question why are they so bad at living up to half of their stated mission to provide a world-class athletic experience? The answer is also simple and straight forward imo...the NCAA's real purpose and priority was never really about the "student athletes" experience but had everything to do with the profit motive for the universities and corrupt organizations are never "good" at pretending to have integrity and be fair in their practices.

The appeal will have to be based on some finding based on the argument presented for this case. Bringing up a new set of facts or arguments will not likely be considered in an appeal.
