Yes, that was a facemask penalty...

KY tried to go tempo offense in that series. Guys jumping back up so quick and pushing the refs to set the ball is the big reason that facemask was missed.

If KY stays in there offense, penalty likely gets caught.
Very good point. One of their guys even knocked a ref on his butt while going in motion.

Stoops was going at the refs the entire game. I guess one of them had heard too much and he went to far. Stupid penalty that ended up being a huge difference maker. 15 yards closer and they are in field goal range.

UK got the first down anyway, so it was a non factor.
Yep and even if they didn't convert, I'm not the least bit sorry or ashamed to be the beneficiary of a blown call. Considering the ratio of calls that go against us vs those in our favor, I feel we're still way, way, way on the short end of those calls. We could get 'em all the rest of this year and next and still be in the red....yeah, alabama red. Auburn vs bama is the iron bowl. UT vs bama is the KY-jelly bowl. Refs ream us over and over again every time we play that bunch. So that facemask....WE DESERVE IT. I, for one, ain't givin' 'em back nor would I apologize for it.

Yes, they did, but it was 15 yards farther back, affecting the range for a field goal attempt.
You need to explain that one to me since they got the first down after the penalty. The line to make for the first down remains the same whether they were penalized 0, 15 or 50 yards. They achieved the line to make a first down, so how is the try 15 yards further back?

I remember when a UK player tried to rip off Eric Berry’s head in OT and no flag was thrown. I’m not losing sleep over it.

The best thing that could come from that missed call (aside from the great meme material of Coach Angry Dwarf) is perhaps another very public, televised failure of SEC officiating and (hopefully) a growing chorus of calls for some SEC zebras to have their beady little narrow-set eyes examined.[/ its not just the sec. ive been watching other conferences and its that way everywhere. so much money with tv contracts and bowl bids that i think theres poop in the punch bowl am becoming disallusioned with college football.

It was a facemask but it wasn’t egregious. He didn’t drag him down by the face mask, I’ve seen many worse missed calls
Egregious means nothing. Coaches bitched for years about the 5 yard vs 15 yard facemask penalties and the officials having to make that judgement. Now anything to the facemask is a 15 yard penalty.

So pretty much all those threads demanding refs get it right were nothing but crap. It's just wanting Tennessee to be the beneficiary of EVERYTHING. Got it.

My fans want to say it cost them the game, but it didn’t. They picked up first down the next play and then they missed on four straight passé! If they run the ball, they get the forks goal and it goes in to OT.
They didn’t take a touchdown off the board FCOL!

Levis was tugging on his own face mask more harshly out of demonstration than the brush by of the Tennessee defender’s hand.

Even if you call it, they would've have gained 1 yard in comparison to where they had it after the 4th down conversion. Calling that penalty doesn't somehow make them convert on the next set of downs, nor put them in field goal range.

It could have been called a facemask penalty, but I've seen much more obvious facemask grabs in other games that weren't called. I also saw two false starts on Kentucky that were not called. On one of those plays, they got a first down. I did see a handful of times when the refs could've called holding on Kentucky that people keep talking about as well.

Should have been called. First time all season I've seen one of the many ref screw-ups go OUR way instead of the opponent. Feels like payback.
They converted the down anyway. Move along. Let’s say they get the facemask. They get shutdown just like they did after the 22 yard pass. Also Hyatt probably didn’t step out of bounds.
