Xbox One

Got a 360. What are some "must own" games?

Outside of Halo, Gears, and Forza, I can't think of many exclusives for the 360...

If you like fun gameplay and some good stories:

Red Dead Redemption
BioShock
Bioshock Infinite
Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham City
The Orange Box
Portal 2
Dead Space 1 & 2
Far Cry 3

If you like RPGs with great stories:

Mass Effect Trilogy
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Dragon Age Origins
Oblivion
Skyrim (not my cup of tea, but many people enjoyed this hiking simulator :ermm:)

If you miss the days of challenging games that do not hold your hand:

Super Meat Boy
Spelunky
XCOM Enemy Unknown
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Dark Souls
Dark Souls 2 (Xbox One in April)
Demon's Souls (PS3 exclusive, but worth a purchase)
The Witcher 2 (Free to Xbox Live Gold members this month)

Not really seeing the benefits of hooking my xbox up to cable.

Party chat while watching games (Super Bowl), not having to switch inputs, voice commands (if you have Kinect), Snap apps while watching TV, OneGuide, Live TV trends.

It just makes my living room a one-stop-shop. However, if you only play casually, rarely party chat, or don't want your kids messing with your One in order to watch cartoons...I can understand not using it!

Thanks. I made some adjustments to my cable box. Let's see if it helps. My issues were with the picture quality. I think this helped.

I enjoy having my cable box setup through the console. I enjoy getting notifications while watching TV and using the voice features. The smart glass app is amazing too. Never turn my controller on anymore unless I play a game.

I feel the same way, love the cable box through my xbox and the smartglass app.

Also, preview members a new controller update is available.

This is pretty cool. Being able to watch the grizz while playing a game is nice.

I just wish it could do picture in picture.

I love having mine hooked through cable, but I guess I'm one of the few who don't think the snap feature is all that. The big issue I have with it is that when in use, it shrinks your screen real estate down. For me, that right there is a deal breaker. I invested a lot of $$ to enjoy a my big screen TV and I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with less screen size in favor of using snap.

Agreed. I'm sure it is only a matter of time, seeing as PIP is pretty old technology. The evolution of the original 360 dashboard was incredible, and even the past year of the One dashboard has made great leaps.

I think we'll definitely see it by the end of the year. It is pretty annoying to have the whole side bar showing with a huge blank space when they could just show more of the game screen.

I really hate the way Xbox One updates. It seems every time I get a window to play, I try to start a game and nothing will start, so I shut off the console and it starts updating. On top of that, it always seems to take way longer than it should. My PS4 updates in a few minutes, even the bigger updates.

That's something I don't understand with X1. Installs and updates take forever, when it's the same size on a PS4 and takes a fraction of the time to install. I know the Xbox team says they're working on fixing this but it's still pretty frustrating.

I'm sure it has something to do with how the X1 handles file management. For whatever reason, the PS4 just seems to be way more efficient at it. It's the same thing with UI navigation. The PS4 UI may be more basic than X1 ' s but it just feels so much snappier and has quicker response. X1 ' s UI just feels slower and clunkier. Like there's a slight delay when you navigate from tile to tile.

I've never had this happen. I have the auto updates enabled, and I don't think I've actually gotten a message requiring me to update in months. It must be updating in the background or at night when I don't have it on.

Set updates to automatic. They'll install when you're not on your One. Regular updates are a good thing though, so expect one system update a month!

My PS4 does install games faster than my One. Microsoft has said they're looking into it, so we will see. If you install games while in "offline mode", they install much faster.

As with the UI, it is like IPhone and Android. Ps4 users get snappier UI at the expense of being Vanilla, like Apple. One users get less intuitive UI, with more options, like Android.

It comes down to taste. I prefer the online multiplayer community the One's UI gives with your friends to my PS4's. But I do commend Sony for catching up with their online features. Much better than my PS3 experience.

PS4 does install games faster but I am glad Microsoft is at least looking into it. I always install my games offline so it does not install the updates first. It is nice having my updates ready to go when I turn on the system.

Is anyone having problems signing into Xbox Live on the Xbox One?

Edit: nevermind, had to unplug my console then afterwards it worked.

My power supply died tonight. Have to send the old one to Microsoft before they send me another one. Probably be 3 weeks.

So in less than a year I've had to replace the power supply and my controller because of the stick drifting and my disc reader is very finicky im convinced it wont last much longer. I've been a Xbox guy through and through since the beginning but im very disappointed in the quality of the XB1 components.
