Xbox One

So that shouldn't affect a headset should it? That's not using hdmi.

I think yes if you are watching something coming in from the hdmi. If you are watching a movie from XBL marketplace or playing a game it will be fine. But if you watching Direct TV for example using the HDMI in it would effect your surround sound headset.

Realize I am guessing here.

Kudos to kwebb for posting about the Amazon orders opening up. I would have never known about it had I not randomly opened this thread and saw your post.

Glad I could help! Almost bought one, but I will just stay with the PS4 now. Probably pick up the Xbox one after the holidays.

I think that is a sound strategy. Getting 2 launch systems is a bit overkill. Get one, enjoy it, and then buy the other when games start flowing next summer/fall.

I couldn't resist it, so I opened them up. The disc being on the other side is odd.

Edit: I don't know why they are upside down.

Who all is getting the Xbox Friday?

I'm getting one, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to open it. I've also got an unopened PS4, and am still trying to decide which one I want to keep. I was all but certain I was going XBOne, largely in part because of its TV integration, but with today's revelation that the TV passthrough isn't going to support surround sound for at least the foreseeable future, I'm less certain. Odds are I'll go ahead and break into the Xbox as soon as it arrives though.

I'm sure they will release a patch so it supports surround sound eventually. Still I'm clueless as to why they would leave that out

I'm sure they'll patch it, it's just a question of how long it takes. Still, I'm not sure I'm immediately wanting to drop $500 on a console that won't support surround sound on my TV, won't support my Turtle Beach headset till sometime next year and may have initial launch bugs. All that said, once it's actually in my hands, I'm sure I'll be much more tempted to want to break it open and play it.

Forza looks incredible. Ryse looks good but I'm hoping there will be a way to shut off the constant repetitive quick time events.
