Worst case for TN

Pruitt would not be in contention for the Bama job at this point so that doesn’t worry me at all. Dabo would be their first choice. Trust me, with all that talent, they’ll have zero issue getting a big name coach.

There’s no way he says no. He laughed it off last time he was asked and followed it up with a huge smile

He’s one of if not the only coach with a winning record against Saban

Dabo is 1-1 vs Saban. That’s not a winning record.

So there are rumors that Saban is considering going back to the NFL for the NY Giants job.

Was actor/comedian Tom Arnold (gasp) right about Nick Saban and the Giants?

If this is true, I think a worst case for TN is Saban leaves after the CFB playoffs, and Bama gets CJP to come back home to Bama as their HC.

You know he would take it. We would then be left again without a head coach just a few weeks before National signing day.....

Hope this doesn't happen but its a risk when you hire a Bama grad and Saban likely only has a limited time left at Bama. Someone will need to replace him.

Of course all this is speculative and unlikely. For conversation's sake though, if Bama steals CJP 5 or 6 years down the road and CJP has a chance to rebuild TN first - fine. But if it happens in a similar way to Kiffin - only a year or two in to the rebuild - it could crush us again...

1) Dabo (UA grad) is the heir apparent to replace nicky.
2) If Saban hated Miami, he will be down right miserable in NY with the worst press corp a coach could ever ask for.
3) If Saban bolts, anyone not picked up in early signing period will look elsewhere like UT and Jawja.
4) Give CJP a few more weeks in Knoxville and Tuskaloosah will be awfully hard to go back to.
5) I hate the Giants. I hope they pick some turds with those high early round draft picks...Ryan Leaf/Todd Marinovich or bust!

Sabin stays at Alabama, he'd be foolish to go back to the NFL, especially the way the NFL is trending now:popcorn:

Alabama wouldn't hire Pruitt if it happened this year. You think they are going to hire someone this unproven? Nah!

Kiffin really messed you up.

What part of Gruden ain't coming here don't you understand.

Listen Friend, I be of Scottish descent and my folks in Scotland still look across the English Channel hoping to see Bonnie Prince Charlie return from France to lead the rebellion against the English.

I’m sure Saban would have told JP to “stick around” if there was a chance he’d leave. Saban will go another 4-5 years.

That would be tragicomic gold; Fulmer really would have to get greased up so they could shoehorn him through the tunnel and out onto the field to coach.

Pruitt would be about 20th on their list of guys to bring in as head coach. You have NO WORRIES.

1. Saban isn't leaving until retirement

2. I like our new coach and all, but he is way down the list at this time. No way bama hires an unproven head coach.

You got that right. Look Vol fans, I know we're all excited about Pruitt right now but don't lose sight of what really happened here. We struggled for weeks to find our coach. We were turned down numerous times. Pruitt was not on anyone's A list. Alabama will choose from the A list. They will not be turned down by anyone.

If Pruitt has a good run here then in a few yrs he may well be on the A list but he's nowhere near it now.

It's fascinating how differently this hire is viewed. To the national media this is a chancy hire by a program that completely botched the hiring process. To some Vol fans this guy is such a stud that the #1 football program in America wants him to follow Saban. Amazing difference there

I'll give the OP this much.....this is the most unique way I've seen of throwing shade on the Pruitt hire. Some of you guys make me pine for a National Enquirer subscription.
