Worst case for TN

Yeah, the rumor in that article says Saban would be gone to the Giants but for Bama making the playoffs. Its just rumors, but it is a nightmare situation for TN if it happened. You know Bama would be attracted to CJP given his bama ties.

Lets think about what current coaches Bammer would go after WAAAAAAY before they even THINK about CJP........HUUUUUMM.......can we think of ANY???????
Come On MAN!!!!!!

I do NOT see Pruitt doing that. Fulmer just gave him his first HC gig and an SEC one at that. Just because he's a Bama guy does not mean he would just jump over there at moments notice. Perhaps he wants the challenge at UT and also does not want to be that coach who takes over BAMA right after Saban is gone. A lot more goes into it then just being a HC. Besides Saban isn't leaving.

Good Lord. We just finished dead last in the SEC. If Alabama wants our coach, then that means the program is strong and competitive again. We'll take that right now.

Saban got his ass spanked in the NFL. He's a God at Bama. He could rape a watermelon on the 50 yard line in Tuscaloosa during the Iron bowl and not worrying. Why leave that for the NFL?

So there are rumors that Saban is considering going back to the NFL for the NY Giants job.

Was actor/comedian Tom Arnold (gasp) right about Nick Saban and the Giants?

If this is true, I think a worst case for TN is Saban leaves after the CFB playoffs, and Bama gets CJP to come back home to Bama as their HC.

You know he would take it. We would then be left again without a head coach just a few weeks before National signing day.....

Hope this doesn't happen but its a risk when you hire a Bama grad and Saban likely only has a limited time left at Bama. Someone will need to replace him.

Of course if Bama steals CJP 5 or 6 years down the road and CJP has a chance to rebuild TN first - fine. But if it happens in a similar way to Kiffin - only a year or two in to the rebuild - it could crush us again...

Saban isn't coaching in the NFL again. Ala will be his last coaching job. And I guarantee Ala isn't gonna hiring a HC with little to no HC experience to follow Saban. Dabo will be Alabama's next HC there doesn't seem to be much doubt about that. He would jump at the chance to be HC at his Alma Mater. He wouldn't leave here with only being on the job a few months anyway. None of those scenario's will ever come close to happening. When Saban leaves Ala he will be done coaching. He's too old to have to uproot his wife and family to start back over in New York. He would take another college job before he goes anywhere near an NFL job. His wife has too much say for that to ever happen.

This rumor comes up every year. I'd say he has about as much chance being the NYGiants coach as Gruden did coming to TN.

They absolutely would not look at him for their next HC without him ever coaching in one game as A HC. Dabo is 1,2 and 3 on their list and he would take it without thinking twice about it.

:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:Saban is not going back to the NFL at his age and his salary of $11 million per year. Eventually, he will retire from Alabama...may wait until his next championship or may stay longer.

Of course all this is speculative and unlikely. For conversation's sake though, if Bama steals CJP 5 or 6 years down the road and CJP has a chance to rebuild TN first - fine. But if it happens in a similar way to Kiffin - only a year or two in to the rebuild - it could crush us again...

The worst case for Tennessee is a fanbase that is so battered and abused that they fear everything and are skittish as hell... and we have that.

Everybody just take a pill. Pappy Nicky ain't going to NFL & if he did, THE BEST case would happen. Kirby Smart would go to Bama and we'd start to own the SEC East in a few years.

Stop overthinking, just have a drink (that is if it won't react negatively with your Zanex pills).

Aren’t their proven head coaches out there with Bama ties?

No offense to CJP but he is new at this HC thing.

I agree that Dabo would be their first call, but if he says no....

CJP would likely be their second.

JP wouldn't be in their top 3 or 4 right now. But regardless of the list Dabo isn't turning his Alma Mater down. Guys like Peterson, Patterson, Stoops, possibly take a run at Kirby or check around the NFL. They won't go from a HOF coach to a guy who has never been a HC before. But it's pretty much a given that Dabo would take the Ala job. The only one he would leave Clemson for.
