Worst basketball team since

I saw this Loss coming. Ga has more talent; and needed this win(At Home) badly. MAYBE with time the team will jell with the new additions; but I see nobody as a leader. Barnes will earn his check if he gets them to the postseason; with half of their remaining games on the SEC Road; and we saw how that worked out for UK and Auburn last night. Hello NIT.

I don't think this team will go to a post season tournament

How can it with no shooting and lapses of fundamentals. It appears Bowden is thinking too much and the rest are thinking, not playing naturally. Reminds me a little of Admiral as a freshman. If these guys can play, not think about playing, we might sneak into the NIT. Crazy things happening in bb right now. Who would have predicted Clemson beating NC and Duke and S.C. beating Ky? Maybe we can steal a win or two somewhere. It certainly would be nice to upset Auburn and keep them from winning the SEC, as they did to us.

Maybe the 1994 Wade Houston team? This team makes the Kevin O’Neil teams look like championship teams. I’ve been watching Tennessee basketball for 50 years and have never seen more missed layups, air balls, and poor defense more than maybe 3 or 4 seasons . This team basically has no talent. Next season can’t get here soon enough
They lost 3 players to the NBA in one year. When has that ever happened at Tennessee? Not really a program built for that just yet. Young team and needs a rebuild year. Losing Bone and Turner really hurts. Saying no talent is a bit of a stretch....but people always got to compare and complain...

Yep. Put Bone on this team and we are fine. Lamonte injury hurt way much more with him gone. I would have liked to see a guard lineup of Bone, Bowden and Turner with James spelling all of them. That’s probably 30-40 points more with that lineup. Oh well, just got to support and hope for some lucky wins.

OP is such a melodramatic overreaction, I think I'm going to kill myself.

Gloom despair and agony...if wasn't for bad luck we would have no luck at all.

No bad losses in the eyes of the selection committee (outside the top 100)
He is right.

No he isn't. I am not the selection committee. I am not speaking for them or speaking in respect to what they do.

When a conference opponent beats you before halftime, that is a bad loss to anyone discussing the game in general. You and him can live in selection world if you want, but that was another embarrassing performance.

And Barnes agrees with you.

While I agree with you that we played horrible, this is completely over the top given the circumstances. We lost 4 starters off last years team, lost Lamonte Turner who was 6th man, and Bowden who was the other starter from last year was battling the flu and hasn't practiced in several days. Uros just received eligibility and hasn't played in a real game in who knows when. All the guys starting and playing the bulk of the minutes are either freshman or guys that may return to being bench players next year after 2019's class arrives. It appears we have a group of role players, but no one taking a leadership role. Given all the factors mentioned I would say we're actually not doing too bad.

Nobody who follows basketball would consider last night a bad loss. No matter what your opinion on it is.

Lol. When you play marshmallow defense, miss layups, shoot air balls, and are literally done by halftime, it is a bad loss. You're speaking tournament lingo, which is foolish right now, since this team will be enjoying the tournament the same way I do, from the tv.

There is a huge difference between playing bad and losing and a bad loss.

anyone with basketball knowledge knows that when discussing “bad losses” that’s a criteria used when determining post season play and we 100% have NO bad losses

You pretty much quoted Barnes' presser but don't think you relayed his mood. Said they deserved to lose, didn't execute on offense, just passed it around the perimeter and chucked 3s and ignored the scouting reports. Don't think he in any way thinks they'r e not doing too bad.

I completely understand we have lost 85% of our production in points, rebounds and assists from last season. All I was doing was making a comment on how bad this team is based on what I watch. Missed layups, missed FT’s, unforced turnovers, horrible shooting. There isn't a player on this team that is a leader and that we can count on for consistent play. IMO this is one of the worst teams we have seen in a long time. Even our so called “ bad” teams have typically had at least one player that could score consistently. I love the Vol’s and can’t wait until next season when I think 4-5 players from this current team along with Bailey becoming eligible and Johnson, Springer and walker coming in, we will be a top 10 team.

I actually don't disagree with you. Last night was embarrassing. But in the eyes of the selection committee, that's not a bad loss.

It was a bad loss. Dont care what definitions the selection committee uses.

I'm using the English language, and in that world it was a bad loss.

There’s been worse Tennessee basketball teams than this one.

Least we had some good wins beginning of the year.

I think it was actually 4 players now that Alexander is in the NBA. I agree this season is basically a practice season to get experience for the 3 -4 young players ( James, Vescovi , Plavisc, kumwa) that are going to blend with next years incoming talent to form a great team
