The younger players love Hamby off court as their Mama, but I agree they have to move away fm the notion that this is Hamby or Plums team on court. And have to finally get Julie healthy

Yeah fine to keep her around for locker room and off court, even an on court steady presence. Conversations about roles need to be had though. She shouldn’t be taking more than 8 shots a game. A player who cannot create their own shot should never be taking 13+ shots a game.

Pretty clear this should be Rickea’s team on the court and everyone else needs to fall in line and play their role. I’m bias, of course, but Rickea is one of the most talented players in the league. She does extremely difficult things with ease and can create for herself at all three levels at 6’2” with a strong body.

Irony lives in the W. Earlier this week Phoenix coach called the midrange “the manure strip” and bragged you won’t catch his team shooting fm there. So he loses last night on a shot by Deja Kelly (of all people) from, you guessed it, the midrange manure strip.

Reading reaction fm Sparks fans, the almost universal takeaways were that Rickea needs to be the first option, Plum needs to play off ball (Allamade is hurt yet again) and Rae’s energy is best off the bench.

Wish they had another preseason, and hope they didn’t promise Plum she could play pg.

I have a feeling they did promise her PG based on a comment the announcer made regarding something Plum said about being excited about the opportunity to be the team leader. I could be wrong, but I suspect she’s thinking being PG would put her in best position to take that role on.

…hmm. Doesn’t sound like this will end well.

I’m fine with defined roles but having one appointed leader rarely works out well. That role is earned, and on successful teams is generally a shared role.

Good news and bad news fm the Sparks closed scrimmage against the Storm:
Good, very good news is that Plum has already been moved to off guard, w Odyssey Sims getting the pg start. Hopefully thats in prep for Julie Allamade's return as starting pg. Most thought they'd stroke KP's ego by waiting a few weeks to make the move but apparently Roberts and Peebly aint playing. I'm sure KP will still get reps there but they know they need a pass first pg, as in pass first to Rickea.

The bad news is it comes at Rae's expense as she's back at 6th player. But truthfully, thats her best role. She'll still get plenty of mins.
Laitu King got cut after the scrimmage, but SAB and Fagin still hanging on.

First games Friday night late and Sunday

Hey, Rae is now solidly in the Sparks' rotation whereas she started last season more on the fringes, so career progress!!!

the Sparks, to make more money denied season ticket holders their seats by returning the full cost of their tickets. They can sell them for more, so those who have supported the team in previous years. loyalty vs $$$$
