Will there be any new Assistants?

Pitt had a common opponent for two teams in the playoff chase... This has nothing to do with Tennessee..

Pitt beat two teams that were in the playoff mix. Bringing in Va Tech and Tennessee have nothing to do with Penn State getting a playoff bid or not.

My original point was about the assertion that Jones is DEFINITELY going into his last season at TN because he considered to be on the hot seat in the moment.

I was simply using Franklin as one of many examples of coaches who got themselves of the hot seat.

That seemed clear to me.

We're not going to get any quality assistants because no assistant worth their salt is going to come work for a coach that's going to clearly be on the hot seat next year.

Which Teams? We scored 55 against Tenn Tech and 28 Against Ohio. That is less than 21% of our points You are smoking crack.

We scored:
App St. 20
VT 45
Ohio 28
Florida 38
Georgia 34
A&M 38
Alabama 10
SC 21
Tenn Tech 55
Kentucky 49
Missouri 63
Vandy 34

That is 66% of our Total offense against SEC competition. You should check your math before making outlandish claims.:thud:

And Lansford goes quiet..... I assume you are trying out that crack so you can actually do math like the rest of us. I'll hang up and listen.

UK, Mizzou, and Tenn Tech.... That is over 1/3 of our offensive output. Two SEC teams that are 11-13 and a 5-6 FCS Team.... Math is hard for you.

If that is an "outlandish" claim, you need to smoke crack then because you aren't and you can't do simple math or understand a post....

UK was a bowl team who who went 7-5 and beat a good Louisville team?

Our offense was 2nd in the SEC in Scoring and all those other teams played bad teams as well.

UK and Mizzou aren't FCS Schools? that was your original statement that 1/3 of the points came against FCS schools?

"And over 1/3 of those points came against two teams that are 11-13 and a 5-6 FCS school......"

Please tell me where my above statement says I said 3 FCS schools? I clearly stated that two teams at 11-13 AND a 5-6 FCS Schools.

Can you clearly not read?

i see that you said agaist 2 teams and an FCS School., But you can't hold Kentucky or Mizzou against us they are in the SEC and that says alot more than other conferences.

You are clearly salty about this offense even though it is the best offense performance since 97 peytons junior year.

Still doesn't change what I said.... Our 3 best offensive games in terms of points scored were against 3 of the worst teams on our schedule... Hell we scored less vs a crappy and smaller Ohio and Appy State, respectfully.

But hey, lets keep breaking scoring records instead of winning East Division Titles!!!

But hey, we are almost close to be in the top tier of the SEC.... Just need more games vs cupcakes!!!!

We scored 34+ in every SEC Game except Bama and SC? So the rest of the SEC is a cupcake?

20 points against App was pitiful and DeBord ran a peewee-level offensive despite the game being in the balance. The 45 against Virginia Tech was heavily turnover-aided. Ohio performance was lukewarm at best. Florida was one horrid half and one incredible one. Georgia performance was uneven. 7 turnovers against A&M despite moving the ball up and down the field with ease. I won't even elaborate about Alabama. South Carolina offensive performance was atrocious.

The offense in the last 4 games of the year was better, but look at the competition.

Look at the SEC games.

I wouldn't fire coach Z yet. Malone/Jennings have both been playing like studs. Jennings had never played WR like that so Coach Z molded him pretty well I'd say.

If we did fire him I'd let Scott coach WR/TE'S and then grab a QB coach. Firing Mahoney is a no Brainer at this point.
Your crediting ZA for their success? Put the pipe down, boy

I'd be for going after Randy Clements at Baylor for Oline coach, George Barlow at NC State at DB coach. He coaxed with Shoop at Vandy. Bobby Petrino's son is qb coach for Louisville. Let's make him a good offer!

Why would anyone want a coach that has been with Baylor for 9 years. The entire Baylor staff has too much baggage for most programs, and especially a program that has just put a nasty sex scandal in their rear view mirror.

People have short memories. We are already forgetting how bad this offense was early in the year. DeBord could have cost Tennessee the App St and Ohio games. Offense was also awful against South Carolina and was awful for extended periods of time against Virginia Tech, Florida, and Georgia despite winning each of those games. It was embarrassingly bad against Alabama, but it was Alabama. With the exception of a couple games, we had fumble/turnover problems all year.

Yes, the defense was terrible in the last 3 games of the season. I'm still not quite sure what happened, but I'm willing to give Shoop a pass given his track record and given that it played better earlier in the year against good competition when it was healthier.

Agreed! From the first game, they didn't have the spark, the desire. I think their heads are so filled up with "technique" that they were a step slower. Last season, even when they lost they had a spring in their step and you could tell they were doing what they loved. This year, it was like they were playing not to lose.

In my opinion, if you score over 30, you should win the game. The line wasn't great, but 30+ gives you a very good chance to win. The defense on the other hand, was utterly embarrassing.

Agreed, Offense wasn't our issue this year! It was definitely Defense. Shoop will get his act together, they can only get better. But there does need to be some coaching changes, Primarily The OL, Secondary, and definitely the S&C staff. I would fire ZA as well the receivers haven't shown great improvement outside of the pure athletes Malone and Jennings!

435 points in 12 games in 2016 is our best offensive output in 20 years( Manning's junior year 1996- 437 points in 12 games). For those of you wanting DeBord gone, what more could he have done?

201 of those points came against TN Tech, KY, MO, and Vandy.

I don't think DeBord is the biggest issue on this staff but there is serious room for improvement.

There were some real head scratching calls almost every game this season and the lack of using Kamara more was almost criminally negligent.

Hey LWS I'm assuming since s&c has an open slot that it doesn't count, so you believe there is going to be 5 position coach changes or are you hearing that it's most likely?
