I don't see how you sign a much better prospect than this considering the QB situation. 3 4-star QBs on the roster. A log jam, where someone is likely transferring.

I am assuming that everyone is unaware of how * are assigned to HS Football players. Not all of them have the chance or opportunity to go to the Nike, Underarmor etc. etc. camps to be seen and rated. I would point out that some of the 5* do not pan out and there are cases of players that become 5* players. 6A schools are not a joke in Texas, how many 4*+ QBs transferred from Bama? I trust CBJ's evaluation of players, its not a perfect system at any Div I school.......let the kids play first before passing any judgement.

National Ranking on 247:

2014-7th
2015-4th
2016-14th
2017- currently 11th, but will likely be top 10.

Every staff deals with attrition, but overall any sane person would be pleased with these results. We definitely can question multiple things Butch has done, but to complain about his recruiting results is ignorant. We have one of the most talented rosters in the SEC. Let us hear your "knock" sir.

Let me try to help since you can't think on your own. We got the #1 DT QB last year. Your not going to pull in a highly ranked QB this class with three 4* QBs in front of them.

You keep referencing Bama and their higly rated QBs. Do you not remember what happend this year. Their other 5* transferred. If Hurst was to get injured in practice they will be hurting in the playoffs.

If you watch his film this kid passes the eye test with flying colors. He is definitely a 4* by his play and throws. Just because they don't visit this or that persons camp doesn't matter.

He is the perfect QB take for our situation. 2018 is when you go after the next big fish QB.

Even when we had Hunter Johnson committed, I wasn't banking anything on our QB out of 2017. Really never saw him as more than a 1 year stopgap until 2018 and beyond with Guarantano or Dormady covering the next two seasons. With our 2018 prospects looking iffy, I'm even more glad we don't have HJ as our future...just not impressed. There were 3-4 top talents in this 2017 pool and none of them were signing up with us. So to get a potential steal or potential solid backup at practically the last minute as an EE is very encouraging.

I wouldn't go that far, especially with the way QB's have gotten injured under Jones' offense previously. Dobbs was an exception and will be sorely missed with his durability.

That being said, I can't see where they will elevate the program by loading up on a class of players that can't get offers from their in state schools and beating out Memphis and SMU for a QB.

Afraid we have seen the high water mark already on and off the field for Jones.

I'm not specifically talking about QBs i'm talking about our class that,is 80% 3 stars. Once again take a look at Bama and their classes. They recruit so great that even highly touted kids have to transfer. So what if they've got players leaving? Their recruiting class is top rated every season it doesn't matter if they have some guys transfer. Our class is average in the SEC and Butch couldn't win big this year with a lot of talent, so when the talent is average it'll only be worse. Apparently things at UT have changed we've been mediocre so,long even the fans are okay with it. That's alright though let's keep beating out memphis and temple for players they're all diamonds in the rough

Like I said in my post earlier this season we had top of the line talent but butch is a average coach so we go average results. Once the talent level is average like what he's recruiting at now with this class as a whole his bad coaching combined with mediocre players will be a disaster. I hope I'm wrong but I've seen enough to decide butch won't ever get us to atlanta

You're going away from your previous narrative tho. You cited that our RECRUITING wouldn't allow us to CATCH UP to Bama AND Florida. No argument with Bama but Florida is below us in recruiting.
