Will Kamara return?

Several undrafted FAs are currently starting in the NFL. Over the past few drafts OL and DL have dominated the top 33 picks, followed by LB . RBs and QBs have to be exceptional to make the first round . $.02.

If he's a combine invite, declare.
His draft status will be determined by his prodays and combine (if invited).

Why risk being grossly under utilized again. It's criminal what Debord did this year. Particularly given that Hurd was causing trouble.

You can say that again about Debord - it was absolutely criminal. Anything past the 3rd round would be a serious mistake for Kamara to consider. He's awesome but could benefit with another year to develop as a featured back for an entire season.

I have a feeling with McCafrey, Hurd, and a couple of other RBs declaring that AK might be thinking to stick around another year.
Especially since we don't know how mobile our QB will be....

You put Hurd next to McCaffrey. Please tell me you know Hurd isn't getting drafted and shouldn't be next to one of the best from this year?

Lol, it's even worse than that. You know McCaffrey had a rather pedestrian year after being the leading Heisman candidate gong into the 2016 season? McCaffrey was exposed the same way Chubb was, he's "great" as long as he has a great OL in front of him. He's good without an exceptional OL, as are most RBs playing big boy football. For the record neither McCaffrey nor Chubb, who have both been tagged with "great" titles by some will make the trip to NYC this year as only top 4 players get the invite.

Hurd? He's not gonna factor into anything even if he does declare, which he and his mother continue to say he isn't going to do.

Rather than be concerned with Hurd, AK has to look at Fournette, Cook, Chubb, Michel, McCaffrey, Hood, Gallman, etc, etc. Still think he declares though and is gone somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round. Bet he tests very well at the combine and his versatility on special teams helps him too.

Michel is a sleeper imo

I am definitely in the minority here, but I dont think McCaffery is an elite RB.

I agree Kingsport, I don't think McCaffery is an elite NFL back. I think he could be a very good slot receiver which is what ai think he will be. Sure hope the patriots don't get him!! Ak is what he is. I think he could improve his stock a little by coming back, but is it worth the risk. That is a question for him to answer, and whatever he decides to do he will always be a VFL! Thanks for everything young man!!!

Was his production down from last year? Yes. Care to take a stab at who led the NCAA in APY?

I don't think AK comes back. Even if he came back for the feature role and balled out, he still wouldn't be a 1-2 round grade, IMO. And that's nothing against him. RB's just aren't as valued in the draft anymore. If you look at the top 7 rushing leaders in the NFL this year, only 3 of them were drafted before the 3rd round. AK can get drafted in the 4-5 round range and still have a very successful career. He should leave no matter what draft grade he gets because in the NFL there is a short shelf life for a RB. Take the money now, play as long as you can.

From multiple sources....I have heard that Kamara didn't like the draft stock he was given....late 4th to 5th round pick...not likely to jump even if his pro day is very good, which im sure he will do fine in. Don't be surprised by any decision from Kamara....either one he makes i'm ok with but as of right now he is leaning heavily towards coming back. And for the few who made comments about Hurd declaring and being part of this draft class....His mom had confirmed the rumor on twitter was false and he indeed is still transferring and plans on playing another year before going to the NFL

nope 9 out of 10 RB's don't come back when they grade out drafted in any round. Nor should he.....he has gold teeth he needs to go make that paper

He tested the water last season and still came back....stock was 5th round and higher. He didn't get enough quality reps to warrant a higher draft stock in either year.

👀👀👀 I would love for Kamara to come back. He quickly became my favorite player when I saw the kind of teammate he was and what a great personality he has. I think it's best for him to go to the NFL but if he's the feature back for the Vols next year watch out :)

I selfishly hope we get him for another year. The guy is electric with the ball in his hands. But given the lifespan of a RB in the NFL, I would not blame him at all if he went this year.

Kamara this year-- 4-5th round.....
Kamara next year-- 1st RB taken....

It's all up to him on how much $$ he wants to make...

I thought he has already started his intent to go pro. Without reading thru this entire thread, did something change?

Mel Kiper gave him 4-5th round grade in an interview today. I heard them discussing it on sports radio. He gave Dobbs late round to maybe undrafted grade, and gave Barnett mid to late 1st round grade.

Mel Kiper = Jim Cantori

RBs have a short shelf life in the NFL. He doesn't need to waste any of his prime time in unpaid status.

With that said, please!, please! just one more year on Rocky Top Alvin!

If he returns, it would be suprising. He is rated as the 7th best RB in the draft. IMO if he stayed another year, he would be a 2-3 rated back. I expect him to jump ship, and I wish him the best. Kelly will be a stud next year! Kamara has a choice to make but I expect him to be gone.
