Will Kamara return?

Dobbs 7th to undrafted. Barnett 1st rounder.

I'm not trolling y'all, Link in original post now.

Mel Kiper does not give official grades. They get to throw their name in the hat one time and Kamara used his last year so he wont be a part of the official draft grades that tell a player first round second round or go back to school.

Hard to see Kamara coming back and showing NFL scouts new skills or abilities next year. I think he's shown his talent.

Do people really think McCaffrey will be a sucessful NFL RB? I'd rather my team pick up Kamara over him.

I hope he goes, I believe it's best for him and Tennessee.

I don't see how that would be best for Tennessee. Kamara is a really good back, and an even better return guy. Seems like the players like him, and he doesn't seem to have a bad attitude.

There is enough carries to go around between him and Kelly. With an unproven QB and an experienced OL, it would be good to have a couple solid options coming back at RB.

Good point. But, we are talking about millions of dollars here. Also, this RB class is deep. If he were to come back and have a good 1000+ yard season like Hurd did or better, he could go from a 4-5 round pick to maybe a 1-3 round pick. Big difference there.

True. Always a gamble.

I wonder how a rb draft class develops from pre-season, so to speak, to post-season. How many rb's for next year are typically off the draft board at this point, but perform their way onto the draft.

Point is Kamara's skill set is known, how many unknown rb's would pass him next year?...and could he just find himself in a similar position, while risking injury, underperforming, etc...

I think he will go before the 4th round. He's going to declare and I will support him regardless of where he goes. Unless they are playing the Titans of course.

Mel Kiper gave him 4-5th round grade in an interview today. I heard them discussing it on sports radio. He gave Dobbs late round to maybe undrafted grade, and gave Barnett mid to late 1st round grade.

Barnett will go in the top five.
Pro Football Focus has him ranked as the third best player in the nation overall, going number 4 to Jacksonville in their mock draft.

I dont think they have done the draft grade for 2017 yet. I would love for him to return, but I think he goes to the NFL.

This. I really don't see him improving significantly at this point. He has plenty of film out there.

Believe me, I would love to keep the guy around. But, with a 2-4 grade, he should take it IMO.

Wow. Kamara may very well return.

I've thought all along there's a good chance he comes back unless he could get a 2nd or 3rd round grade. I do not see him going that high this year, next year he could easily be one of the top 5 RBs in the nation, get that media attention that goes with it, and go in the earlier rounds which =s more money.

Kiper doesn't scout players...just their agents. It's pretty well known he talks up certain players to build draft hype.

Hurd? He's not gonna factor into anything even if he does declare, which he and his mother continue to say he isn't going to do.

Rather than be concerned with Hurd, AK has to look at Fournette, Cook, Chubb, Michel, McCaffrey, Hood, Gallman, etc, etc. Still think he declares though and is gone somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round. Bet he tests very well at the combine and his versatility on special teams helps him too.

My point exactly with all of those names...was typing quick and my fingers got moving faster than my brain. After I hit post, I was what in the H...Hurd, really...hahaha

Any rate, I think there is a real chance he looks at all those names and decides to stay one more cycle.

If he truly is projected as 4th or 5th round, he really should come back. Whether he does or not, I don't know. I don't think the money would be enough at that low of a pick even considering the injury possibility. He should get insurance and come back to UT.

He got a 4-5th round draft grade. I'm not saying he is a first rounder, but I'm a little stunned he is that low.
However, selfishly that may make it worth it to return which would be freaking awesome!
I hope he makes the best decision for himself he deserves it. Great player, more importantly great young man.

He should definitely go.... He should not risk injury by returning.
We have Kelly on campus now. Chandler is a commitment and we are in strong consideration from the running back from Mississippi.
IF Kamara returns, it will be really crowded in the backfield.

The risk to injury IMO is a non factor. Most of these kids and their families know to get the insurance number one. Secondly, most of the money in the NFL is not guaranteed, especially if you're a mid to late rounder. One hit in practice or preseason or during the game in the NFL where the players are bigger and faster, you career is just as over early with little money in the bank as well. When Kamara was voted a team captain after arriving for the first time, I knew he was special with his teammates, I suspect he enjoys the team and traditions, it would surprise me none to see him come back.

But remember, Hurd is the Calvin Johnson of RBs :). In all seriousness, Kamara might very well get a much better grade next year. It may benefit him to stay. Also, I highly doubt that next years RB class will be as strong as this years.

Haha, correct. Whatever the heck that meant. I can see where it could be of benefit for him to stay. But after watching what happened to JRM and Sutton and his sudden notoriety and significantly improved prospects after finally getting to play and show how special he really is, I think goes ahead and declares. Would love to see him back, but I think it's time he goes and gets his money.
