Will JG Redeem Himself Vs UGA?

Will JG beat UGA?

No... NO. Don't you understand anything? When UT loses then it is the "team" and more specifically someone other than JG. When they win... it is only him.

I still don't dislike the kid. I would still love to see him play well and turn the corner to become an above average QB. But some of the people here... are just amazing.
No one said that stupid. They just pointed out that you can’t have it both ways. I’ve never said that ******** at the goal line against Bama was on anyone but him. It was an awful decision. But if we’re winning, with him at qb, he’s getting something right. Because the rest of our team isn’t precisely beyond reproach. Get it now?

"Redeem" from what? He didn't start and hardly played in 2 of the past 3 games. The one he started he went for 2 TD and 0 ints. 143 yards on 21 passes (6.8 ypa).

This isn't the game of redemption for him, maybe Bama and UF are those.

We don’t beat them with eXplosive plays. They’re secondary is too good for that. We beat them maintaining possession of the ball. Slants, quick outs, and running the football. We need to get 3.5 yds per play. If we do that, then we win the time of possession battle and win the game because we will score on every single possession. Defense will need to make one-I repeat-just one stop and we chalk up the win.
I'm thinking opposite. Trying to maintain long possessions vs an elite defense is a death sentence. The more plays, the more instances for them to exert their advantage. Shorten the game (# of plays) and shoot for positive variance.

They have allowed 2 red zone possessions so far. Not a defense you march on imo. Take your shots.

The definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I appreciate all the positive JG vibes in Vol Nation. But its no different behind center than it has been for 3 years. Low competition percentage, questionable decisions, slow release.

I'd LOVE to win Saturday, but its a hard no for me.
Since you live next door to Lou tell him to kiss my ass

I reject the premise of the question posed in the title of this thread.

2019: 0-2 losing to GA State & BYU...
2020: 2-0 beating SCAR & Mizzou...

I’d call that redemption.

Look, at no time during JG’s career here have we had the horses to beat GA. If he plays good against GA there’s still a fair chance we could still lose this game because of GA’s talent and depth. We’re getting there, and I believe we’re almost there, but beating GA today would definitely be (IMHO) “ahead of schedule” aka an upset.

I don't know, but I seem to be the only one more concerned about the D. I don't think it's played well thru the first two games. SC tore us apart in the secondary. If Mizzou hadn't had a gazillion self-inflicted wounds, they would have put up a good amount of points as well. Good that we're getting Shamberger and Bryce Thompson back for this game, though. We need them desperately right now, given that secondary has been the (surprising) weak spot of the D.

JG played well against Mizzou, but he didn't really have to be "the hero". I think he's got to have a game more like the one against SC last year to beat Georgia. We're not going to beat Georgia simply by running the ball (as much as people on here want to believe that). We're going to have to have big plays in the passing game. Which means guys like Josh Palmer, Jalin Hyatt, Brandon Johnson, and Velus Jones need to have big games, and JG needs to get the ball to them.

I'm in the camp that thinks this is going to be a tough outing. We have a shot, and I feel better about our chances this year than the past two years, but we're definitely the underdogs for a reason here. Georgia's D is elite. Our D is going to have to play much better than it has the first two weeks to win. And JG needs to have an "A" game.

The secondary has been pedestrian for sure. I know they have had some missing pieces, so we will see with everyone back how it goes.

Thus the blue font... or are sarcasm and hyperbole lost on you too? The quote that was responded to said "he" had won 8 straight... not UT. Several here are trying to lay much of the blame for his inaccuracy on longer throws on the receivers. So while it was hyperbole... it wasn't as far off as you seem to think.

The rest of the team and particularly the OL are playing MUCH, MUCH better. He's doing some things better but does NOT anticipate throws well and read coverage quickly enough to put the ball on time and target consistently. Get it now?

I'm not sure Chaney is going to put JG in a bunch of tough situations today. But then again, a lot of the things that happen to JG are brought upon himself.

I think he’ll make good decisions.
He lean on the ground game
He will make a few head scratchers
But I don’t he’ll do anything that’s clearly “with” plays.

I voted no, because....
1. JG has redeemed himself, already.
2. UGA's defense is going to make alot of QB's look average to bad.

He didn’t win 8 straight games, it’s a TEAM sport. When you play a TEAM sport the TEAM can be successful in spite of poor play from some of the members of the team. Not saying anything either way about JG, but keep in mind that he is not responsible for wins or losses, he is a cog in the wheel. He is not the measure of Tennessee Football’s success.
He also is HUGE reason they won those 8. They don’t without him.

that’s why they are called a team! Football is not an individual sport! Trey, Henry and all the rest of those guys own the wins just as much as he does. Not “his” streak and let’s not pretend like it is.

Exactly... and he’s doing his job.

If JG shreds Georgia with stellar play it’s time for everyone to get on board. No more bashing the kid, just full support for our QB.

You were right, JG really stepped up in this game. After today’s performance I am 100% behind JG.
