JG has done a nice job leading the offense on scoring drives and has been much better in the red zone this year compared to last season. He doesn’t have to throw for 250 plus yards with 3 TDS in this game (that would be nice though) but he needs to make the right decisions like checking down or simply throwing the ball away avoiding sacks. UGA will be bringing the heat on him during passing downs for sure.
I still think he has to be a threat deep. If they don't fear the deep passing game then they can play downhill vs the run game. I believe that tends toward him having significant yardage if the Vols are going to win.

The team has won 8 straight games.
No... NO. Don't you understand anything? When UT loses then it is the "team" and more specifically someone other than JG. When they win... it is only him.

I still don't dislike the kid. I would still love to see him play well and turn the corner to become an above average QB. But some of the people here... are just amazing.

Scary to think the kid has won 8 straight games and still has to redeem himself... glad I’m not that hard on my kids.
When the streak is against teams are are combine 38-42...and teams you should beat....it would for most fan bases put the streak in context...but most here have accepted and experienced mediocrity so long they tout it like its a championship

Take the wins and quit complaining. We could be like Arkansas

If JG shreds Georgia with stellar play it’s time for everyone to get on board. No more bashing the kid, just full support for our QB.
Does the opposite of this apply as well?
If he fails or has turnovers do we all get to relentlessly bash him?

Deal. But if he looks bad out there are you going to bash him or just keep hoping he’ll eventually get better in his 4th year?

This is a difficult question to ask and answer going into a game like this. We are playing the best defense in college football and quite possibly one of the best defenses we’ve seen over the past decade or so. So I don’t really know if anyone could “redeem” themselves against this Georgia team. Or maybe the definition of redeem for this game is just don’t lose the game for us? No QB/offense is going to have their way with Georgia this year. So I say if JG takes care of the ball, makes good decisions, gets us into the right run fits and hits some open wrs when there is the chance, then that’s a pretty good performance.

He won't play well because he can't. He is not capable of producing against good teams. It's not that the effort isn't there, he just cannot do it. JG has shown that time and again. Anyone expecting anything other than a terrible performance from him is in for a letdown tomorrow. Our only chance (10%) at best is that we are able to run the ball. The win streak is a joke. We haven't gotten better, the schedule has gotten worse.

From his 2-0 start? Wait, are we voting if JG beats UGA or the the team beats UGA? Or are we voting on JG redeeming himself from something. Can he redeem himself if we have a close loss? No! Yes! I don't understand the question. Is this a trick?
Exactly. No single player is gonna win that game or lose it. Will JG play better against UGA than he has in the past? I would think so given his level of experience and his performance thus far this year. I voted no. Not because I don't believe in JG or the team but I don't believe in the validity of this question.

I am repeatedly astounded at the sad world of loathing some of you live in.

I mean, I would find it hard to disdain a player on my favorite team. Particularly one who has stuck with it through some pretty tough times. But to actively plan your hatred out, like in advance...it just boggles the mind.

Glad I live in a better world than that.

Go Vols!
Who said I hated him. I love JG! He sucks though.

We don’t beat them with eXplosive plays. They’re secondary is too good for that. We beat them maintaining possession of the ball. Slants, quick outs, and running the football. We need to get 3.5 yds per play. If we do that, then we win the time of possession battle and win the game because we will score on every single possession. Defense will need to make one-I repeat-just one stop and we chalk up the win.

Heart and head thing for me. JG is a VFL, he's our guy going in to this game so we should support him. I do, my heart says he's got it in him. My head says we may see inconsistent JG show up. We just need JG not to play poorly. If he can get up to solid this Vols team is talented enough to pull out a win without him being the hero. This game could come down to who makes the big mistake, heart says it's the UGA QB, head says JG doesn't do well in that situation. Prove me wrong JG make my head eat crow.

I' m in this same realm. I feel JG wants it so bad he puts so much pressure on himself that he over thinks it and things can go bad, just let the game come to you. Don't make the turnover, don't try to do to much and put the ball in the play makers hands and JG will be Aight.

The definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I appreciate all the positive JG vibes in Vol Nation. But its no different behind center than it has been for 3 years. Low competition percentage, questionable decisions, slow release.

I'd LOVE to win Saturday, but its a hard no for me.

Hopefully he only needs to make a few plays tomorrow. I think both teams lean on their defense and running games. I think our Oline and special teams may make this closer than some imagine. If we have to depend on JG I don’t like our chances.

JG is at his best under pressure without time to think. He must play on instinct and experience. when everyone doubts JG he gets it done. He is the best 6th man. We got them where we want them. Wgwta

Let's face it when the Vols have played the ranked teams in key SEC match ups during his career JG has not shown up. Those have been horrible games for him. He will have to play well tomorrow for the Vols to have a chance at the upset.

He didn’t win 8 straight games, it’s a TEAM sport. When you play a TEAM sport the TEAM can be successful in spite of poor play from some of the members of the team. Not saying anything either way about JG, but keep in mind that he is not responsible for wins or losses, he is a cog in the wheel. He is not the measure of Tennessee Football’s success.

This is JGs game to settle his score of the last four years, and set UT on the path of being "back". Does he accomplish that this weekend? I say yes...
.
I hope so... for him more than any other person... but I vote no. I think his first PT was when we were getting destroyed by Georgia at Neyland. I was at that game with a friend from Atlanta. Best seats I have ever had. Worst game I think I have seen us play. There would be some irony there.

JG could redeem himself by playing lights out and we still lose the game.
