From his 2-0 start? Wait, are we voting if JG beats UGA or the the team beats UGA? Or are we voting on JG redeeming himself from something. Can he redeem himself if we have a close loss? No! Yes! I don't understand the question. Is this a trick?
A worthy question. I think we all realize JG is the difference between a win and loss. So the question persists: can he pull it off?

Yea, sorry I was obviously being a smart ass. I don’t think we win, and JG might look bad in a loss. But I truly think it says more about UGAs D than JG. I’ll add one caveat. If we can run against UGA, I think the game changes. If our O line can beat their D line, both in terms of us running the ball and giving JG a clean pocket, then I’d say we have a great shot at winning.

For me, UGAs offense doesn’t scare me. They’ll score, but it’s their D that scares me. JG could win this for us, yes, but so could our O line I think. If either or certainly If both play poorly, I don’t think we have a shot. And again either playing poorly I think will say more about UGA than us. My two cents anyway....

I don't know, but I seem to be the only one more concerned about the D. I don't think it's played well thru the first two games. SC tore us apart in the secondary. If Mizzou hadn't had a gazillion self-inflicted wounds, they would have put up a good amount of points as well. Good that we're getting Shamberger and Bryce Thompson back for this game, though. We need them desperately right now, given that secondary has been the (surprising) weak spot of the D.

JG played well against Mizzou, but he didn't really have to be "the hero". I think he's got to have a game more like the one against SC last year to beat Georgia. We're not going to beat Georgia simply by running the ball (as much as people on here want to believe that). We're going to have to have big plays in the passing game. Which means guys like Josh Palmer, Jalin Hyatt, Brandon Johnson, and Velus Jones need to have big games, and JG needs to get the ball to them.

I'm in the camp that thinks this is going to be a tough outing. We have a shot, and I feel better about our chances this year than the past two years, but we're definitely the underdogs for a reason here. Georgia's D is elite. Our D is going to have to play much better than it has the first two weeks to win. And JG needs to have an "A" game.

If JG shreds Georgia with stellar play it’s time for everyone to get on board. No more bashing the kid, just full support for our QB.
Shreds? Surely you jest. Could they win Saturday, of course it's an odd shaped ball and things happen. My pick Is GA 24- UT 21.

If we can run the ball successfully we should be able to gash them on play action though. Its so much easier to pass when you can run.

I suspect that I will be involved in a JG sucks forum before the game is over.

He can try and prove me wrong but doubtful. We used to blame the OL now we will blame the WRs.

Proudly nited and ready for crow if needed.

I am repeatedly astounded at the sad world of loathing some of you live in.

I mean, I would find it hard to disdain a player on my favorite team. Particularly one who has stuck with it through some pretty tough times. But to actively plan your hatred out, like in advance...it just boggles the mind.

Glad I live in a better world than that.

Go Vols!

Good time management IMHO.

Heart and head thing for me. JG is a VFL, he's our guy going in to this game so we should support him. I do, my heart says he's got it in him. My head says we may see inconsistent JG show up. We just need JG not to play poorly. If he can get up to solid this Vols team is talented enough to pull out a win without him being the hero. This game could come down to who makes the big mistake, heart says it's the UGA QB, head says JG doesn't do well in that situation. Prove me wrong JG make my head eat crow.

Heh, that sounds a lot like a "hope battling fear" narrative. You hope for the best, you fear the worst.

We all know reality is usually somewhere in the middle.

The positive bit that reassures me is how well JG has been making decisions in 2020. He has been managing games like the 5th year senior he is. No, his arm hasn't always been accurate, but his brain has been on point. And as you noted, that's what we need most this game.

Meanwhile, UGa has a young quarterback with very limited experience, wearing a veneer of confidence because he has done well in two games against lesser competition, but still young and wide-eyed and vulnerable to shock.

I think our defense can shock him.

There was a point in the national championship game against Florida State back in January '99 when we got to Marcus Outzen just one more time, one time too many. You could see it in his mannerisms: he was broken. My dad and I looked at each other in that moment; we both knew we'd just won the game, even though the score remained close and we were early in the 3rd quarter.

Really hoping we break Bennett tomorrow in the same way. I know our defense can. They've been vanilla in rushing schemes and blitzes through our first two games, but I think that was intentional...and we're about to see them open it up against the Dawgs. This young QB won't know what hit him.

Meanwhile, JG can quietly and calmly manage the game when we're on offense, not trying to do anything he can't do, just keeping us in it, taking what the stingy Georgia defense will give him. Our defense will do the rest.

Go Vols!

The thing about it is, he doesn't have to have some huge game for us to win. Our defense is the key. If we stop their running game and put some pressure on Bennet I just dont see them putting up a ton of points. Which then boils down to us being able to run the ball enough to manage the clock. Field position and not turning the ball over are going to come in to play as well. JG doesn't have to throw for 400 for us to win. Just needs to manage the game well and not turn it over. I do think he'll have to make a few big throws in the game. I'm hoping we come out try to pound it. Our strength against theirs.

Yeah they go hand and hand against the better defensive teams. Going in to the game UGA knows the running game has clicked pretty well. And they will focus on it early. JG will have to play well because UGA can put it on him. If he finds success it will also make running it easier. If he doesn't its going to be difficult day on that side.

Chaney has never been the type to force the running game if its not there. I ll be surprised if he doesn't come out early and see where JG is.

I voted yes, I think JG has the pieces around him to take the pressure off of him. Run the ball, don't turn it over and manage the game. Also JG looks notably faster than he has in the past
