Think we have to have a break out year and win a bunch of games. He definitely will be a star! Just gotta win!

So, assuming we can pull off a 10-12 win season in 2016 and/or 2017 and Jalen rushes for 1500+ yds I think he could be a serious contender. He runs angry as hell and is a driven individual. I'm going to go out on a limb and say YES, barring injuries, Jalen Hurd will win a Heisman while at Tennessee.

I don't see it with spread offenses putting up video game numbers. Add that to the fact that the team would need to be at least in contention to make the CFB, which at the moment UT is clearly not. It's basically an award that goes to the best player on the best team now a days unless the stats are just bonkers, I don't think it's gonna happen. Don't get me wrong, I think Hurd will have a great career and be an all time great at UT, i just don't think he'll win the Heisman.

Let me put this in a different view OP. Jalen probably is heisman capable, in a different set of college years that is. 2014-17... His 4 years here, there are way too many freak athletes in the country for him to top. Had he been born later or sooner, possibly. Hope you understand.

Guarantano might eventually have a better shot at the Heisman than Jalen. Two things work against Hurd receiving it: (1) Thirteen of the last fourteen recipients have been quarterbacks (Heisman Trophy - Heisman Winners) and (2) the Hurd-Kamara tandem. Kamara isn't the kind of back that will consistently warm the bench here. Whatever his eventual stats are, he will siphon enough carries and yards to keep Jalen from posting the kind of mindboggling numbers necessary for a running back to win the Heisman.

He may have a seat in NY, but I doubt he will win it. Love what he brings, and believe he will leave here as one of the best.

Hurd has 232 yards on the season. Not 299.

I know most of us believe Peyton should have won the Heisman, but Majors was robbed just as much as Peyton and then some. Hornung only won because he play for ND.

Majors wasn't robbed. Jim Brown was robbed. He had the best season and it wasn't close

Johnny would agree with you that Jim Brown was the most deserving Heisman candidate in 1956, but their statistical productivity was very comparable. Brown had 158 carries for 986 yards (6.2 ypc), 13 touchdowns, 5 receptions for 56 yards (11.2 ave.), and 1 touchdown. He also completed 3-4 for 76 yards and 1 touchdown (Jim Brown Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com). Majors, on the other hand, had 108 carries for 549 yards (5.1 ypc) and 7 touchdowns while completing 36-59 (61.0%) for 552 yards, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions (Johnny Majors Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com). Both men accounted for roughly 1100 yards from scrimmage and 12-14 touchdowns.

Everyone knew Jim was getting the ball and he still averaged 6+ ypc.

Johnny played 10 games for his stats, Jim played 8.

Jim kicked extra points for Syracuse that season

Lastly, he went on to star in I'm Gonna Git U Sucka

Manning stayed 4 years, doubt Hurd does. Also, Chubb is the same class as Hurd. As much as I like Hurd, he is just not on Chubb's level. Maybe he would be with a great OL but even then he is just not the game breaker that Chubb is.

Paul Bain was the 1st and last Volunteer to win the Heisman. After winning the Heisman in 2018, the NCAA decided it was best to "retire" the Heisman and introduce a new award; the Paul Bain trophy.

I say he will. I think he'll be a first round pick in his NFL draft too.

Hurd is already performing very well with crap blocking. Once the OLine gels he'll rip apart the next line of defense.

Good pick for a team with a fantastic line, such as the Cowboys. Not sure if he's good enough to go to a team with a poor line though...
