I would be ok with that. Friend's offense at CSU in 2017 averaged 33 pts per game with 293 passing yards and 200 rushing yards. The CSU offense in 2018 without Friend? 23 pts per game, 305 yards passing and 106 yards rushing. Seems like they miss him. It wouldn't be a Larry Scott type of situation.

I just don't see us hiring a guy VFL or not to be our OC who just got demoted from the same position in which we want to hire him for due to lack of production. Love Tee and am grateful to him for giving us his all on the field but just not the rite time nor position. My opinion of course

Pretty sure he was promoted from Co-OC to OC at USC after Ty Helton came to UT. From what I understand, he was demoted from OC this season.

Great. Easily the worst position coach on the team....his OL is virtually the single-handed reason why Tennessee sucked this year. So let’s promote the guy so he can spread his brand of incompetence and misery further to the entire offense. That’s the Tennessee way.

Good stat comparison BUT when Friend left, how many of the key offensive players left also?

Yeah, no thanks. That was at CSU. Here, at UT, in the SEC, he just authored the worst OL performance in program history. He needs to be replaced, not promoted.
