Will Friend next OC if

Yes. Bring in Freeze, to hell with the do-gooder critics. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Not only should we not care about Freeze’s past “indiscretions”, we should get him an account set up with hookers on retainer from the Mouse’s Ear.

Great. Easily the worst position coach on the team....his OL is virtually the single-handed reason why Tennessee sucked this year. So let’s promote the guy so he can spread his brand of incompetence and misery further to the entire offense. That’s the Tennessee way.

This OL has had how many coaches in the past few years? They have sucked under all of them. Ask yourself what is the common denominator here.

Whatever they are going to do, they better get about their business quickly. Rumors are bad for recruiting and early signing day is around the corner.

Have you already forgotten how incredibly bad the OL was this year under Friend. Here, let me remind you...

-dead last in the SEC in rushing yards per game

-dead last in the SEC in yards per rush

-#1 in the country in running plays resulting zero or minus yards...happened an astounding 32% of the time this season

-had -3 yards rushing going into the 4th quarter vs Charlotte. Finished with 20 yards rushing on 26 rushes. Similarly couldn’t run on UTEP either, one of the worst defenses in the country.

-Not sure how many hits JG took this year, even when throwing quick game, but it had to be some sort of NCAA or SEC record.

-dead last in the SEC in tackles for loss allowed (just under 8 per game).

-#119 in the country out of 130 teams in tackles for loss allowed per game...92 in 12 games. Wow!

Compare yoy stats vs last year (when we had a much more veteran OL and played to the style they were recruited to). See, despite losing the most experienced guys and some highly recruited guys, changing schemes and all, we still improved. Sorry if I spoiled the ending.

That would be such a Butch Jones move. Pruitt needs to hire a legit proven OC. It’s not rocket science.

It only makes sense if you're the type of manager/employer that promotes underperforming employees hoping they will do better with more important **** to do...

smdh..what color is the sky in the nocleats world?
Well technically this is a government job so...this type of practice is the norm.

Considering that his OL was terrible and he couldn't do anything to fix it would look like his choice as OC would put us in another death spiral.

Will Friend would be the odds on favorite to be OC if Helton goes to WKU.. Weinke to QBs coach and then someone either promoted up or brought in for RBs.. JMO but it makes sense..
Hope not, this will be like Scott just year. Lord, why can't we just put a complete staf together for once

If Will Friend becomes OC then it is a trickle down much like Jones hiring Scott as OC...This will not turn out well and could very well be the end of Pruitt...He had better be super careful on who he hooks his wagon to.

People get promoted to their lowest level of incompetence. Currently, Friend should go no higher than OL coach. If he does, its time to start screen Pruitts replacement.

Fulmer himself once said the OL can rarely improve throughout the season. It is the ultimate developmental and S&C-dependent position group.

Can’t really get stronger throughout the season, I get that. But after 12 weeks, surely your guys can know which foot to step with, which calls to make, which guys to pick up on a routine blitz/stunt, which guy lined right up over you to block. Come on now.

If Friend is kept on staff, it’s a huge red flag.

Just saying the whole program was a dumpster fire. Tee is a great recruiter iirc and probably not the worst coach ever.
He may be a good recruiter but we have enough recruiters, we need a good OC and from what I have seen Tee is not that. I am sure he isnt the worst coach ever as we just fired him last year but we need a proven OC and not a guy that just got fired from being one.. This is all IMO and I am certain he is a better OC than me but that isnt saying much :)

Tee isn't my first second or third choice right now. He was the scapegoat though. The team was even worse when he stopped calling plays.

When they were successful year he called ALL the plays and was not a "Co-OC" with Tyson. He called all the plays. The Heltons made suggestions that he either took or didn't per his discretion. Tee and both Helton brother confirmed this in multiple instances.

They are starting a qb that was a hs Jr last year.
