Wilcox needs to go

wrong it comes down to fundamentals not being properly coached....none of you bufoons gave Chavis any leeway when his players missed tackles......from what I have seen I would take a Chavis defense over a Wilcox D any day of the week.

The defense scheme was good, talent was not. Chavis rarely had this many fresh/soph on one team.

yea your right jackson is missed he could have come in handy for real espically since fla looks like a 7-5 team with their reamaning schedule, it only gets tougher now for both teams...

Well first of all if you look at what the D had to go through you would see they have made a lot of progress. If you look at the possessions that started on our side of the field I think they were held to 3 field goals or maybe 4. The D kept us within striking distance the whole game and Bray did his best. The running game is beyond x and o everything else. You can see progress in all area but the the running game is something you can't explain with words it so bad.

If our offense and special teams doesn't gift Florida the ball in our own territory almost every drive, then we are easily knocking at least 6 points off Florida's score (meaning we have ourselves a real ball game going into that 4th quarter).. At least twice the Gators got the ball in field goal range, and we stonewall them. Wilcox did a great job schematically. And this is a dumb thread.

I can explain the running game...it's called an Oline made up of freshmen and sophs in the SEC....coupled with average at best tailbacks

There are wayyyy too many tackles being missed everywhere and yes that comes down to coaching.

You don't wait to teach kids in college to tackle. They don't wrap up because their not tought to in high school and younger. Old habits are hard to break especially after it's what got you to college in the first place.

I criticized Wilcox's defense at the beginning of the game, but they did settle in and play fairly well. I am worried, however, about how bigger rb's will run against us. We are still undersized, and where we aren't, we are inexperienced. Guys like Lattimore, Richardson, and Ford may have career days against us. I'm also a bit worried about AJ Johnson. He looked lost at times today, and most of the time he looked very slow. Granted, I know that was in relation to a very fast UF backfield. Maggitt looks like he is going to be great, and Lanier made some pretty good plays. As for Wilcox, it seems as if the guy knows how to make adjustments as the game goes along. There will be games where we don't have the luxury of holding teams to field goals in the redzone though.

Justin Wilcox will get real smart once we start successfully recruiting beastly defensive tackles. Until that happens...

The fact that Crunch thinks Poole is a good back, proves the point that Crunch is nothing more than a playstation analyst. I just have to laugh at the true idiocy of his kind on here.

What about the running game period looked good. If we had atleast had a decent runnig game we might have beat Florida that and a better field goal kicker.

didn't read the thread but OP sounds like just another dumb red who doesn't know the difference between an A gap and a 3 technique and I'm sure the thread is filled with more like him

Wilcox did a good job. Not great, but good. Special teams is just plain bad. No ability to decently return punts and the punters aren't very good. The kicking game is making things hard for the team... It's time to throw in D. Young and see what he can bring.

I've enjoyed reading this thread. It's quite refreshing to hear from UT fans who don't mind at all that our 2nd biggest rival laid 33 pts on the Vols today. Why, when you think about it, it was a moral victory for CJW and the D! I feel much better now that they've given 33 really, really good reasons why it's nothing to worry about - our 15-yr rebuilding program is right on schedule.

We know, Phil. You could have done better.
