At the beginning of the season, if you were to tell me that we would be 9-2 going into the Vandy game and a shot at a NY6 bowl, I would have been ecstatic!

However, the hope of a REAL return to relevance, punctuated by a CFP appearance and a possible NC being ruined in such spectacular fashion by an extremely mediocre Gamecock team seems like a cruel joke. Something happened last night that has yet to surface. The defense looked like they intentionally "threw" the game. HOW DO YOU PLAY THAT BAD!?!?!? This hurts worse than losing to our usual nemesises because it just does not make sense! I hate to say it but a Pruitt coached team wins that game going away.......Maybe defense is Coach Heupel's kryptonite.

Better find one or he may end up to be a little better version of Mike Leach.. I'm still on the fence whether his brand of football will ever equate to championships.

I agree. I’m waiting for something within the program to leak. The defense looked like they didn’t even care to be there. Letting SC’s receivers catch the ball and then trying to make something happen, whiffing on tackles, no pressure on Rattler etc

Heupel is still a very young head coach. Sometimes coaches have to learn the hard way on how to handle success....... How we finish the season the next 2 games and close in recruiting will go a long way. The obvious is Heupel makes some changes to the staff..... He will be alright.

slow DB’s and rushing 4 most of the night

That’s what I’m saying. Defense almost seemed purposely slow. I know they’re not great but effort seemed questionable. Then there was no trying anything different on defense. Something stinks

downside of Banks out. DBs have been slower most of the year, nothing new but no MLB pressure didn’t free up Baron and Young

Word is there was a locker room tiff between Banks and an offensive player and coaches sat Banks, but just extra running for the offensive player. Lots of D players felt like it could have been handled with Banks also running extra, no need to sit him. No talk that they intentionally played poorly, just demoralized with their leader sitting, while the O player started. Confused about the message from coaches mostly.

Defense better not be his kryptonite. That's half the team.

I think last night was just a bad situation for TN. Something clearly happened this week with the team and Banks not playing is curious without an injury. I think TN ran into the perfect storm. USC got embarrassed by FL last week and wanted to show they are not that bad, Hooker was clearly off last night and honestly he has not been his usual self in the last couple of games, and TN has been reading its own press and got overconfident of a win over a "bad" opponent. And last but not least, Rattler played out of his mind last night, every pass was right on the receiver's hand in perfect position for them to run. If Rattler had played that way at OK he would still be their QB1.

You've got to be kidding, Pruitt is a joke and our defense sucked then too maybe not this bad but still. We more than likely wouldn't have scored on offense with him

Something stinks about it. There’s no logical explanation to what happened last night
We’re not good on defense.
We were without the guy in the middle that holds it all together.
We’ve made average teams look awesome at times all year.
Their QB is a mental case with a crapload of talent. He played lights out and we played bad.
We really could have had 3 additional loses before last night. We have won by playing above our abilities and that all came crashing down last night. Beamer has been pissed about us “running up the score “ last year so he had this one circled. I don’t have a problem with final score. They just need to remember this when Hypel hangs 100 on them.
It sucks but there’s absolutely a logical explanation for it.

Word from where? What’s the source of that other than some message board crap.
