Am I the only one who thought the Vols had some dirty hits in the bowl game? It seemed like they were intent on delivering shots to the head and/or late hits, especially to the other QB. I'm all for aggressive play, but that was too much. The academic suspensions were embarrassing enough: you don't needs play like that to raise additional "character" issues about the program on a national stage.
I noticed it to.
If you are referring to Mapu, I don't think that hit was dirty. It looked to me like he was pushed by the Badger O lineman into the qb. His back was almost to the qb. When he was pushed it seems natural instinct would be to reach out for something to grab to stop a fall.3. The "dirty hit" was correctly called when our line man through an arm at the QB. That's the only one I saw that was a problem.
All the hit's our defense put up were legit.... our kicker is another story.
It wouldn't have been so bad if he had just ridden him down by the facemask.... but he took his forearm and planted it in the back of that guys neck and planted him. That was a little cheap IMO.
All in all.... it was a tough game for the Badgers' QB... he's tough.
