Why not Mike Leach?

I think Currie is too conservative to hire someone with a peculiar offense and who has fairly big skeletons in his closet.

This is not the guy we want representing our program. I don't think he'd recruit well, and he doesn't give a squirt about defense. Not to mention his insane rants, lawsuits, stuffing kids in closets, etc. Stay out west, you insane fart.

I would prefer Mullen. Both are offensive minds, but I would trust that Mullen knows that you have to play defense in the SEC. And Mullen will have better recruiting connections in the south, particularly in Florida. Plus, having spent time in Gainesville, he understands the culture.

Leachs D Coordinator is a rock star and may win the Broyles award.

Exactly. They put their best players on the offensive side of the ball.

Right. And they won on the level Kentucky is accustomed to winning (2-7 wins)... can’t win big in this league without playing defense

Reaching the bottom of the barrel I see. Should be some other interesting names popping up.

I disagree that Mike Leach is the bottom of the barrel. He was Texas Tech's best ever post-WW II coach (much better than Tubby), and has rebuilt Washington State which had only 9 wins total in the 4 years that preceded Leach. If he wins today, he'll be in the Pac-12 championship game. Bob Stoops thought enough of Leach to make him his first OC at Oklahoma.

Leach wouldn't be in my top 5 dream hires, but he is far from the bottom of the barrel, imo.

Well his D coordinator is one of the hottest names in coaching and he's won some low scoring games this year so maybe Leach is learning.

I don't know that much about Leach (outside of his hilarious interviews from time to time) but he has lead a crap Washington State team to wins over ranked teams like Boise State, USC and Stanford this season. By no means perfect (like Washington) but I don't see how you can doubt that he can coach.
